Program description: The GAP Treat/ARV program, under the KEMRI/CDC program, is supporting provision of HIV Care and Treatment services in Bondo, Rarieda, Siaya, Ugenya, Gem Districts and Nyanza PGH. Due to its continued growth, the program has openings for 54 clinical officers.

POSITION: Clinical Officer – (54 positions) MR7 (Job Group MR K)

Location: Siaya, Ugenya, Gem districts and Nyanza PGH

Reports to: Health facility in charge and PSC in charge

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must have a Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
* Must be registered with the Clinical Officers Council of Kenya.
* Must have a good understanding of HIV management, including provision of ART, Care and management of opportunistic infections.

Skills and Abilities:

* Ability to coordinate and supervise provision of HIV care and treatment services at facility level.
* Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
* Ability to work well in a team, and be able to collaborate well with the Ministry of Health and other partners.
* Fluency in both English and Swahili, written and spoken. Knowledge of Dholuo is an added advantage



JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Officers will support provision of HIV care and treatment services in health facilities in the KEMRI/CDC- GAP Treat/ARV supported facilities in Bondo, Rarieda, Siaya, Ugenya and Gem districts.

Duties and responsibilities:

* With guidance from the KEMRI GAP HIV Care and treatment lead person and in liaison with MOH, DHMT and KEMRI clinical teams, provide quality HIV care and treatment clinical services at designated health facilities.
* Offer technical support, coordinate, supervise and perform day to day HIV-related clinical activities at the assigned HIV clinic.
* Ensure continued provision of quality services at existing HIV care and treatment facilities, and offer mentorship support for initiation of new sites.
* Facilitate linkages across different HIV programs areas at health facility level.
* Perform any other duties as assigned by Health facility in charge and PSC in charge



Terms of Employment: The contract is for one year renewable as per KEMRI scheme of service and a Probation period for the first 3 months. Remuneration: Compensation is negotiable within a relevant grade, based on educational levels, relevant experience and demonstrated competency.
