Leading Insurance Company Vacancies

A leading Insurance Company that has become a significant player in Kenya’s Commercial Motor Insurance Market is looking for diligent and experienced persons of high integrity to fill the following positions:

Position: Head of Assessment
Reporting To: Managing Director

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in Motor Vehicle assessment and his/her work should be characterized by integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.

S/he should be able to work under minimum supervision, all with the intention of being part of a team that works effectively to the client’s satisfaction.

The position is based at the head office with regular travel within Nairobi and up country.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership to the internal motor assessors and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their assessments and/or investigations
  • Contracting preferred garages on behalf of the company
  • Negotiating parts and repair costs with garage owners
  • Conducting motor assessment and re-inspection of repaired motor vehicles
  • Preparation of assessment and re-inspection reports
  • Researching and creating a database of the market price of spare parts for various makes of vehicles
  • Analyzing assessment reports from internal and external assessors and giving recommendations
  • Making fair, realistic and thorough assessments of damages and repair costs for motor vehicle accident claims
  • Contribute to optimizing the Company’s assessment practices and procedures
  • Effectively building, maintaining and managing relationships with garage owners, colleagues and clients
  • Assessing service providers’ delivery and level of integrity and advise on the same
  • Verifying documentation/information provided/to the company by prospective claimants
  • Making recommendations on whether the specific claim assessed/ investigated is payable by the company
  • Acting as the liaison between the assessment function and other functions in the Company
Skills and Requirements
  • Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering or related course from a recognized institution
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
  • Certificate of Proficiency in insurance from the College of Insurance, preferably Motor Chapter subject
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • A clear understanding of the market prices of spare parts for various makes of vehicles
  • Ability to work independently is a must, with an energetic “can do” attitude to work.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills both in verbal presentation and writing
  • Computer proficiency.
Position: Motor Assessors
Reporting To: Head of Assessment

The ideal candidates should have hands-on experience in Motor Vehicle assessment, likely the age of 28 to 35 years.

Their work should be characterized by integrity, accuracy and attention to detail, ability to work under minimum supervision, all with the intention of being part of a team that
works effectively.

The position is based at the head office with regular travel within Nairobi and up country.

Skills and Requirements
  • Diploma course in Mechanical Engineering or related course from a recognized institution
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience
  • Certificate of Proficiency in insurance from College of Insurance, preferably motor chapter subject
  • Ability to carry out motor assessment and re-inspection of repaired motor vehicles
  • Preparation of assessment and re-inspection reports
  • Ability to negotiate repair costs with garage owners
  • Must have clear understanding of the market prices of spare parts for various makes of vehicles
  • Ability to analyze assessment reports from external assessors and give recommendations
  • Ability to work independently is a must, with an energetic “can do” attitude to work.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills both in verbal presentation and writing
  • Polished computer skills (MS Office Suite)
Position: Claims Officers
Reporting To: Claims Manager

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in handling both third party personal injury claims and material damage claims, likely between the age of 24 and 30 years.

S/he should work with accuracy and attention to detail all with the intention of being part of a team that works effectively.

This position is based at the Head Office.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct out-of-court negotiations with third party advocates and claimants
  • Ensure complete documentation of claims and give recommendations on the reserves to be maintained
  • Handle correspondence with claimants and third party advocates
  • Liaise with third party service providers in the claims handling system and with the Company lawyers on litigious claims
  • Pursue recoveries from third parties and follow up the collection of policy excess with the insured and/or intermediaries
Skills and Requirements
  • A graduate in law from a recognized university and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Ability to work independently is a must, with an energetic “can do” attitude to work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong negotiation skills
  • Experience in a busy claims department or Law Firm will be an added advantage
  • Good analytical skills
  • A good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Computer literate
Position: Claims Assistants
Reporting To: Claims Manager

The ideal candidates should have hands-on experience in handling both third party personal injury claims and third party material damage claims.

Their work should be characterized by accuracy and attention to detail and they should be able to work under minimum supervision all with the intention of being part of a team that works effectively to the satisfaction of the client.

This position reports to the Claims Manager and is based at the head office.

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring complete documentation of claims and give recommendations on the reserves to be maintained
  • Receiving and accurate filing of claim documents.
  • Responding to assigned correspondence with claimants and third party advocates and making follow-up phone calls
  • Following up the collection of policy excess with the insured and/or intermediaries
  • And any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Skills and Requirements
  • A legal background with a minimum of a Diploma in Law
  • Ability to work independently is a must, with an energetic “can do” attitude to work and diligent nature
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and negotiation skills
  • Experience in a busy claims department or Law firm
  • Basic understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Computer literate
Position: Stores Clerk
Reporting To: Finance Manager

The ideal candidates should have hands-on experience in maintaining proper inventory levels and stock records in the store area.

Key Tasks, Duties and Requirements
  • Controlling the flow of supplies in and out of the store area
  • Receiving & storing merchandise and/or equipment retained for future use and issue these items from the store as and when they are needed
  • Maintaining control records showing stock on hand, stock on order & stock used during previous periods & reordering items in short supply
  • Performing frequent checks to ensure that the records of stored items and items actually stored do tally
  • Ensuring that there are adequate supplies of merchandise or equipment at hand
  • Inspection of items received, and returning unsatisfactory or damaged goods to the supplier
  • Arranging items in stores in good order for ease of retrieval and preventing their damage or deterioration
  • Receiving requests or orders for stored items and sending the appropriate merchandise to the right department
  • Setting up a requisitioning and internal supply system in order to maintain records of stock movement and costs per department
  • Acting as the liaison between the stores function and the other functions/departments/branches in the organization
  • Preparing stores reports as necessary and keeping the store area in good condition
  • Maintaining a record of the amount, description and value of items in store
Skills and Requirements
  • A background in store keeping with a minimum of a diploma in stores management
  • At least 2 years relevant working experience
  • Computer literate
