Finance Assistant KCDF

KCDF is a public foundation that supports community driven development by giving grants and technical support to organised communities through various programmes, such as food security, education especially early childhood development and girl child development, arts and culture, youth development among others.



It raises funds from a diverse range of Kenyan and international donor sources, while making innovative grants to CBOs and NGOs that are working to help communities address their poverty challenges and to take charge of their own development agenda.



KCDF is looking to recruit a qualified individual for the following position that will contribute to the achievement of the organization’s mission.



FINANCE ASSISTANT



Under the supervision of the Finance, Investment and Administration (FIAM) the job holder will be responsible for maintaining an effective and efficient KCDF financial accounting system, cash management, generation of system reports for management reporting purposes and assisting in the re-enforcement of systems, procedures and policies within the Foundation. The Financial Accountant’s duties will include:

1. Posting entries into KCDF’s computerized accounting system and passing all re-allocating and adjusting journal entries. Maintenance of general ledger;
2. Assisting the FIAM with the day-to-day running of the Finance department particularly in enforcing policy requirements ,ensuring compliance with internal controls and recommending on areas for improvement as well as working closely with Grants management accountant;
3. Petty cash responsibility including arranging for banking and collection of cash and cheques to and from the bank as required;
4. Preparing monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts and related statutory requirements and payroll withholdings as well as generating monthly and quarterly financial management reports;
5. Preparing & processing cheque or cash payments for medical claims and operational claims and ensuring their completeness and accuracy;
6. Maintaining asset records, including regular checks and physical verifications;
7. Support the budget preparation process by providing required information.
8. Maintaining an accurate and up to date filing system for accounting records and related vouchers;
9. Supporting KCDF’s external auditors and enable them to carry out their audit work at minimum cost to the organization
10. Preparing various schedules to track monthly costs of among others, motor vehicle running costs, creditors and inventory.
11. Any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

* CPA II or its equivalent.
* Experience in using financial accounting software.
* Proficiency in use of MsExcel and MsWord
* Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
* Accounting experience of at least 2 years.
