Employment Opportunity with East African Marine System Limited (TEAMS) General Manager

The East African Marine System Limited (TEAMS) is the majority shareholder (85%) of the UAE-KENYA Submarine cable system that is jointly owned with Etisalat.

The cable runs from Mombasa on the coast of Kenya to Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

TEAMS Ltd is looking to recruit a General Manager who will serve as the company's Chief Executive to oversee the smooth operations and management of the company.

Reporting to the Board of Directors - TEAMS Ltd the General Manager's key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

* Providing leadership and strategic visioning that will ensure that the Company's optical fibre cable is operated and maintained to the highest level of reliability and availability.
* Developing, leading and managing an effective management team that is accountable for its performance to the Board and Shareholders.
* Building and maintaining strong and strategic relationships with regulators and clients in the country and within the East African region.
* Designing and implementing strategic business plans and associated budgets and reporting thereon to the Company's Board and Shareholders.
* Developing marketing and sales strategies for the company's surplus Broadband capacity for the benefit of Shareholders.
* Representing the interests of the Company and its Shareholders when interfacing with various publics such as government, regulatory authorities, clients and suppliers.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:

* Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, legal/finance/administration.
* Minimum of 10 years experience in senior management roles in telecommunications services, at the international level, and preferably in the management of submarine cables.
* Demonstrate the ability to manage public, customer and political interface, including the ability to interact with and build sound relationships with role players across a broad spectrum of sectors.
* A good grasp of corporate governance and ethics.
* Proven negotiation experience.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, and with the ability to build relationships, influence and motivate employees and suppliers.
* Excellent people skills to attract, hire, develop and retain the high-calibre talent needed to grow a successful company.
* Knowledge of customer service principles, techniques, systems and standards.
