- JOB SUMMARY
The position holder will assist in the management of the education programme by developing programme implementation plan and budgets; assist partners in developing area specific programme plan and budgets aligned to the programme objectives; support development and implementation of the advocacy and lobbying strategy in line with the programme strategy; monitor, document and communicate appropriate and relevant feedback and results with partners and line managers for appropriate action; monitor programme budget and administer partner grants
- MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme support / Management
- Support programme expansion through preparation of donor specific programme proposals.
- Develop programme implementation plan and budgets. Assist partners in developing area specific programme plan and budgets aligned to the programme objectives.
- Participate in the assessment and selection of appropriate resource partners for programme implementation.
- Define and agree through consultation processes with partners and other actors on a suitable strategy and approach for sustainable interventions.
- Develop partnership agreements and ensure on time implementation of programme in line with planned activities and budgets.
- Undertake regular monitoring visits, document and communicate appropriate and relevant feedback and results with partners and line managers for appropriate action.
- Support the development and implementation of the advocacy and lobbying strategy inline with programme strategy.
- Support and advise programme staff and partners on the implementation of the programmes inline with the agreed proposals and budgets.
- oriented tasks and conduct performance review of the supervisees.
- Advise senior management on timely implementation of planned programme evaluations and research studies.
- Participate in recruitment and management of the identified evaluators. Support the evaluation process and ensure timely implementation of the recommendations.
- Prepare programme reports based on the Kenya programme proposals as well as donor requirements.
Partners Capacity Building
- Conduct and coordinate organizational capacity building process including Strategic Plan Development by partners as and when required.
- Identify staff and partners training needs and plan, design and undertake training for program participants and/ or partner staff. Based on identified needs.
- Build the capacity of partners in rolling out cross cutting issues like gender equality, HIV mainstreaming and Child protection and DRR in the programme.
Financial Management
- Monitor programme budget, administration of partner grants, preparing budgets for programme activities, monthly cash flow projections, monitor and account for expenditure, and develop financial report in line with Concern agreed format.
Education
- A first degree in Education
- A master’s degree in Education or equivalent is desirable.
Essential Experience and Skills
- At least 5 years experience working in education programmes preferably with strong advocacy orientation.
- Significant experience/knowledge Primary Education policies,
- Significant experience/knowledge of advocacy in Primary Education
- Experience in programme planning, monitoring, and evaluation
- Knowledge/experience of challenges of working with and through local partners
- Experience in implementation programmes in urban slums
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills
- Good writing skills in English.
- Computer and report writing skills
- Good organization, planning and management skills
- Ability to work under pressure.

4. JOB LOCATION:

5. JOB SUMMARY
The position holder will report to the Area Coordinator, and take technical direction from the Programme Manager Education. She/he will be responsible for the Nyanza education programme and will assist in the management of the education programme by developing programme proposals; implement plans and budgets; assist partners in developing area specific programme plans and budgets aligned to the programme objectives; support development and implementation of the advocacy and lobbying strategy in line with the programme strategy; monitoring, document and communicate appropriate and relevant feedback and results with partners and line managers for appropriate action and monitor programme budget, administer partner grants. The APM will also deputise for the Area Coordinator in ensuring the smooth running of the Kisumu office.
6. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Programme support / Management

- Supervise other programme staff as delegated by the line manager, delegate objective oriented tasks and conduct performance review of the supervisees.
- Undertake timely programme evaluation exercises. Advise senior management on timely implementation of planned programme evaluations and research studies. Participate in recruitment and management of the identified evaluators. Coordinate evaluation process and ensure timely implementation of the recommendations.

Collaboration
- Represent Concern in Key education meetings with the UN, donors, local authorities, partners, civil society and community groups in the Nyanza region
- Liaise with relevant UN and Government bodies.
Education
- A first degree in Education
- A master’s degree in Education or equivalent is desirable.
Essential Experience and Skills
- At least 5 years experience working in education programmes, 3 of which should be with an international NGO.
- Significant experience/knowledge Primary Education policies,
- Significant experience/knowledge of Advocacy in Primary Education
- Experience in programme planning, monitoring, and evaluation
- Knowledge/experience of challenges of working with and through local partners
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills
- Good writing skills in English.
