CARE INTERNATIONAL SOMALIA / SOUTH SUDAN

PROGRAM MANAGER – JOB REF:SUD/EX000183

CARE Somalia/South Sudan is an International NGO working in Somalia and South Sudan. CARE and its partners work with vulnerable communities to address the underlying causes of poverty, and promote peace and development by strengthening civil society, responding to emergencies and advocating for policy change.

CARE is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of Program Manager for the Tangwiya in South Sudan. The Program Manager will report to the Program Coordinator, and will be responsible for carrying out the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities of the Tangwiya initiative in accordance with CARE programming principles/standards and donors’ contractual obligations. The incumbent will also be responsible for overseeing the project resources, supervising project staff and maintaining coordination and liaison with other CARE projects and counterparts as well as preparing timely project reports. This will involve participation and contribution to advancing subsequent project phases according to the program unit plans, active participation of civil society organizations in the project activities, maintain a proactive and vibrant linkage with the Upper Nile State Ministries of water, education, health, agriculture and other departments of relevance to these multi-disciplinary focused livelihood and capacity building initiatives.

  • Identifying opportunities to establish effective strategic relationships with other individuals, teams, departments or external organizations, to help achieve CARE’s objectives,

Required skills and qualifications

  • A masters degree in Development Studies or one of the component areas; peace building/conflict mitigation, WASH, Livelihoods, SEAD,
  • Three years experience related to the above activities of this project
  • Strong financial, people and project management skills
  • Experience in peace and partnership building
  • Good data management background and computer skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and report writing skills
  • Good programming skills

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Use of variety of communication systems, including radio and satellite phones
