Call for Curriculum Vitaes: UNV Volunteer Assignments

1. BACKGROUND

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) is the UN Organization that supports sustainable human development globally through the promotion of volunteerism and mobilization of volunteers. It serves the causes of peace and development through enhancing opportunities for participation by all peoples.

United Nations Volunteers Assignments are based on the values of free will, commitment, engagement and solidarity, which are the foundations of volunteerism. Volunteering brings benefit to the individual volunteer and the society. It makes important contributions, economically, as well as socially. It contributes to creating social cohesion and social capital, through helping to build trust and reciprocity among citizens.

The UNV office in Kenya is seeking to strengthen its' national roster for individuals that would like to volunteer in various field. The national roster allows UNV to respond quickly to requests for volunteers.

2. PROFESSIONAL FIELDS REQUIRED

Candidates in the following professional fields are required:
Administration, Advancement Of Gender, Business, Civil Engineering, Community Development, Computer Information Systems, Energy Engineering, Environment, HIV/AIDS prevention, Human Rights, Humana Resource Management, Humanitarian Assistance, Information and Communication, Legal/Paralegal, Peace Building, Programming/Project Management, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Surveyors/ Land Valuers, Vocational Training

3. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The two categories of Volunteers required are:
i) Specialist and
ii) Field Workers National UNV Volunteer Specialist

Academic credentials - Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate Degree in relevant field.

Preferably 5 or more years of relevant working experience. Fluent in English and the national language. Minimum 25 years old. Good communication skills

Interest and commitment to volunteering and supporting the efforts of others. National UNV volunteer Field Workers

Academic credentials - Diploma or Basic Education with a Secondary School certificate but also with the relevant technical expertise.

Preferably 2 or more years of working experience. Skills in community development. Fluent in English , the national language as well as the working language required for the post

Minimum 21 years old Good communication skills. Interest and commitment to volunteering and supporting the efforts of others.

4. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
UNV volunteers are provided with a modest Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) intended to cover basic needs, housing and utilities, settling-in-grant equivalent to one month VLA paid only one time to National UNVs recruited to work in areas other than their home of record, medical insurance, and a resettlement allowance paid at the end of satisfactory service.

If you meet the afore mentioned minimum requirements, and would like to be included in our National UNV Volunteer roster, please send your up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV) only, to email address cvs.unvkenya @ gmail.com In the subject of the email please indicate your profession.

The CV shall be reviewed; individuals meeting the requirements shall be included in the National UNV Volunteer roster and shall be contacted for an interview once an assignment matching with the profile comes up.

Candidates responding within fourteen days from the date of this advert shall have first priority to be included in the National UNV Volunteer roster. Nonetheless, the UNV office shall continue to receive CVs thereafter and will continuously update the National UNV Volunteer roster.
