INVITATION FOR APPLICATIONS

Nominations to the Committee of Experts
PSC/CON/COE/MBR - Members of the Committee of Experts

Pursuant to sections 8 and 10 of the Review Act, applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who are citizens of Kenya for nomination as Members of the Committee of Experts under section 8(4)(b) of the Review Act.

The functions and powers of the Members of the Committee of Experts are provided for under Part III of the Review Act.

To qualify for nomination as a Member of the Committee of Experts, a person is required to be of high moral character and integrity and to have proven knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas:

(a) comparative constitutional law;
(b) systems and structures of democratic governments;
(c) human rights;
(d) women and gender issues;
(e) land and land law;
(f) governance, ethics and accountability;
(g) public finance and administration;
(h) electoral systems and designs for democratic elections;
(i) anthropology; or
(j) mediation and consensus building.

Persons who served as Commissioners of the Constitution of Kenya Review Commission under the Constitution of Kenya Review Act, Cap 3Aof the Laws of Kenya (now expired), Members of Parliament and persons who hold or are acting in any office in the public service are not eligible for nomination as members of the Committee of Experts.

The applications should be received on or before 19th January, 2009 and should be accompanied by relevant testimonials.

The applications should clearly state, on the envelope and in the application letter, the reference number and the position applied for, as cited above.
