Feed the Children Job Opportunities

Feed the Children (FTC) is a leading Christian International non-profit NGO whose core mission is to effectively respond to the immediate survival needs of disadvantaged children through nutritional, child sponsorship, healthcare, and family empowerment interventions.

A major programming arm of FTC provides food to children in the poor suburbs of Nairobi covering over 120,000 children every day, so enabling them to attend school.

The FTC school-feeding programme has received funding to expand its operations in Nairobi and also reach out to Mombasa.

We therefore need to fill the following positions urgently:

REF/SFP/001/09: - 5 FIELD MONITORS (3 for Mombasa and 2 for Nairobi)

Reporting to the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, the successful candidates will:

  • Coordinate and closely monitor the implementation of the school feeding program in the schools.
  • Monitor, review, and update all relevant records from schools under FTC Feeding program
  • Oversee the distribution of commodities in the schools and ensure proper standards of storage and utilization are being observed.
  • Ensure schools heads/administrators submit accurate & relevant information/data.
  • Make periodical reports on food management, distribution programming, and other issues.
  • Participate in special surveys and evaluations carried out in relation to the program.
The preferred candidate must possess the following minimum requirements:
  • Applicants for the Mombasa positions must be native residents of Mombasa.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, nutrition, sociology, or community development.
  • Two years' NGO experience working with poor communities through participatory methods.
  • Creative self-starter with resilience to cover long hours of work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent report-writing skills with good written and oral presentation skills.
  • Good computer skills
REF/SFP/002/09: - DATA ENTRY CLERK (For Mombasa native residents only)

Reporting to the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, the successful candidate will:
  • Do data entry of field data (indicators, enrolment, attendance, performance, SFP 6 forms etc)
  • Perform analysis of data recorded and generation of pertinent reports
  • Generation of school stock monthly reconciliation reports for donors and partners
  • Participate in surveys and evaluations carried out in relation, to the program.
The preferred candidate must possess the following minimum requirements:
  • Applicants must be native residents of Mombasa.
  • Diploma in nutrition, community development, social work or other social study subjects.
  • Excellent proficiency in Spread sheets (MS-Excel) and Databases (MS-Access).
  • One year experience working in collection and management of project databases.
  • Creative self-starter with resilience to cover long hours of work with minimum supervision.
