Education Technology Specialist
Background
This objective will be met through activities that are designed to promote education, promote health, and strengthen school governance through community groups.
The ERC Education Technology Specialist will be responsible for implementing the Education Resource Center (ERC) service strategy and leading the technical work of the ERC Education Technology Assistants in the HEAR ERCs, working under EDC's Activity Manager for over-all technical guidance and under the day to day management of the HEAR Chief of Party (COP).
Specific Responsibilities
Under the management of the EDC HEAR Activity Manager, the Education Technology Specialist will have the following roles:
- Assist in conceptualizing and implementing their Area's situational needs assessment to identify needs of the ERC clients
- Develop an over-all strategy that ERC's will pursue to support the HEAR mission
- Supervise, guide, and manage the work of Education Technology Assistants based in the ERC sites
- Follow consistent standards, processes, and/or templates by which digital libraries in ERCs will be organized and managed
- Help manage the training activities that take place in the ERCs
- Train HEAR's primary clients (teachers and education officers) on how to use the digital library and/or other sources that are available on the Internet or in the ERC
- Assist ERC clients on adapting and integrating resources into their curriculum materials
- Develop ERC work plans (especially annual but also monthly) for the approval of the EDC's Activity Manager and concurrence of the COP and Resource Center Manager.
- Mentor and provide training and support for government workers or volunteers who may be trained to help develop the digital library and prepare and deliver training to HEAR clients
- Help identify necessary software packages and hardware that would be appropriate for the Three Areas education environment
- Develop training packages to orient education officials, teachers and other clients on appropriate use of technologies
This position requires:
- Master's degree or equivalent with 3-5 years relevant experience;
- Experience in education quality improvement, especially with regards to teacher training;
- Experience in community mobilization;
- Strong report writing, records management and communication skills;
- Experience using Windows and Excel; other ICT devices and applications as well as the internet for research purposes.
- Team player with experience in a multi-cultural and multi-task environment;
- Successful strategies for working under pressure to meet deadlines;
- Ensure a creative interface of technology with HEAR activities
- Orient staff in basic technology applications at different levels of capability
- Train teachers and children
- Work with communities and create community awareness to support community development
- Develop audio-visual tutorials in one or more of the following areas: health, science, social studies, maths, general knowledge, cultural heritage aspects
- Use technologies such as power point, music systems, video systems, and public address systems
- Live and work in a harsh environment (e.g. Accommodation in tukuls).
- Be adaptable, flexible, and innovative when presented with a challenge
Excellent written and spoken communication in English required. Arabic proficiency a plus.
Location
This Position will be based in Kauda, Southern Kordofan, Sudan.
