Working to the Manager Editor, Nairobi you'll be reporting on a daily basis to Senior Broadcast Journalists, helping to produce a range of news and current affairs output. This will include originating research, newsgathering, producing and presenting items, interviews and complete programmes. You will be travelling within the region as assigned by the Managing Editor.

As well as having a thorough knowledge and understanding of news and current affairs in the region, you'll also have substantial, recent and relevant experience as a journalist. You'll have a good knowledge of English including complete comprehension of written and spoken English as well as full command and up to date knowledge of Kiswahili language (first or equivalent).

Together with a good broadcasting voice you will have experience of writing, adapting and translating with accuracy, clarity and style.

You'll be familiar with the area/s to which the Service or Section broadcasts and will have an in-depth understanding of the area/s history, politics, social issues and culture as well as the changing needs of the audience. An extensive knowledge of the media situation in the target area.
