The Water Resources Management Authority (WARMA) was established under the Water Act 2002 and is the lead government agency in water resources management.
The Authority is now seeking to recruit a suitable candidate who should be self driven, result oriented, innovative and qualified to fill the position of Legal Officer.
The legal officer shall be answerable to the Chief Executive Officer on ail Legal matters and shall be-the custodian of statutory documents and Authority seal.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Legal advisor to Water Resources Management Authority
- Assist the Chief Executive Officer to compile minutes and proceedings of the Water Resources Board of Directors
- Plans, supervises and coordinates the operations of the Legal Department
- Advises and ensures compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Responsible for legal matters in collaboration with external lawyers on disputed issues
- Litigation and legal advice on insurance matters
- Ensures safe custody of legal documents.
- Handle the performance management supervision and development of staff within the Legal Department
- Participate in recruitment of Legal and Para-legal staff
- Interprets legal opinions and offers guidance on legal requirements
- Review contracts and leases drawn by third parties
- Develop and monitor procedures for dealing with complaints
- Must be a holder of Bachelor of Law or its equivalent from a recognized institution
- Must be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- Must have worked for eight years as legal officer at a reputable firm/Institution.
- Must be computer literate.
