International LAN Administrator Job Vacancy

Job Summary:

  • Responsible for network administration and maintenance for international activities, along with the provision of workstation/desktop support for its users.
  • Develops applications for improving network efficiencies, as well as recommends automation processes for the existing processes related to both clinical and medical educational activity.
  • Enforces network policies and procedures, and responsible for the integrity and security of network data and systems.
Essential Functions:
  • Manages, monitors, and administers the network servers performing such duties as adding/deleting users, setting up/ changing workstations, backing up data, and installing/ restoring data.
  • Enforces or creates network policies that would ensure security and integrity or lead to increased efficiency for users, applications, network management, etc.
  • Provides desktop support for the client workstations and resolves system and program issues for all applications utilized by the staff, including the upgrade of software and systems to support new applications.
  • Makes recommendations for upgrades to hardware and software based on to existing operations, pending needs and available budget. Advises on new applications to be developed.
  • Acts as network technical liaison for all networks of the organization in the absence of the home administrator as well as for any projects with outside entities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science or Information Systems is desirable)
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in computer systems, with appropriate certifications in local area networks and application development.
  • The successful candidate will have 2 or more years of experience in wide area networking (WAN)
  • Must be well-versed in disaster recovery practices
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be willing to grow into higher levels of responsibility
  • Ability to travel extensively within Africa
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Skill in maximizing system resources with the ability to make sound judgments based upon comparisons and interpretations.
  • Capable of enforcing network policies and using a consultative/change management approach to recommend changes to policies when necessary.
  • Excellent time management skills along with the ability to delegate responsibility to others.
