WEAEP Kenya is a local NGO seeking for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for its programmes in Western Kenya. WEAEP aims to promote secure livelihoods of women and girls; and increase protection of children and participation of disadvantaged boys and girls in primary education.
Reporting to WEAEP Kenya Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for programme design, implementation, financial accountability, programme quality assurance and resource mobilisation. The position is based in Kakamega town.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, monitor and direct WEAEP programs;
- Provide technical support to programme staff, in order to work towards good quality programming;
- Oversee the human resource function in WEAEP;
- Build and maintain a stable funding base from local and international sources;
- Ensure that community programs are planned logically and that goals, objectives, outputs, inputs, key performance indicators and desired impact are defined in advance for every project that community undertakes;
- Ensure the Board is updated on progress and developments in WEAEP from time to time and quarterly reports are submitted (eg financial expenditure verses budget report, actual performance verses approved plans report);
- Ensure budget control, accurate costing and managing program expenditure against approved budget, reporting schedule and deadlines;
- Regularly review programme strategy against developed plans;
- Ensure timely audit is undertaken on all the projects and issues raised implemented as per a greed schedule;
- Build relationships with partners, stakeholders, external technical advisors, counterparts in other NGOs and networks relevant to WEAEP programmes;
- Represent WEAEP in national and international forum.
- At least a Bachelors degree in social sciences with over 5 years experience in senior management in an NGO setting. Postgraduate degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage;
- A mature person with integrity, preferably over 35 years;
- Ability to manage budgets and deliver projects to agreed parameters;
- Demonstrated experience in child rights approaches and designing programmes aimed at empowering women and girls;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate the vision of the programme to different audiences;
- Experience in human resource management, donor contract management, reporting and working with consultants.
