World Vision Job Opportunity: Executive Assistant to the Africa Region Ambassador

World Vision, an international Christian Relief, Development and Advocacy organization working to promote the well being of children, is seeking to recruit a highly competent and proactive person to fill the position of Executive Assistant to the Ambassador - Africa, based in Arusha, Tanzania.

The Africa Region Ambassador for World Vision International supports the Africa Region in maintaining, building and enhancing WVI's external engagement with and support to the Church and other relevant organizations in Africa in their endeavours to pursue justice for the continent's children.

Purpose of the Position:

The primary function of the Executive Assistant to the Ambassador is to provide a wide range of support services for the office of the Ambassador that ensures efficient functioning of this office and effective communication & engagement with key stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Respond to routine 'Advocacy & Justice for Children' (A&JC) and regional issues
  • Facilitate regular communication with Support Offices and key stakeholders on behalf of the Ambassador
  • Provide research and documentation for the Ambassador's internal and external presentations and prepare monthjy briefings and quarterly reports for Vice President A&JC and Regional Vice Presidents in Africa
  • Maintain up to date records of key contacts and networks built during the year and share these with relevant stakeholders
  • Maintain updated database of key WVI Advocacy and policy documents from Regions and the Global Centre.
  • Prepare drafts of briefing papers for the Ambassador's review and follow up on action items from the Ambassador's consultations, meetings and events.
  • Maintain diary for appointments, meetings, teleconferences and telephone calls and plan the Ambassador's field visits in consultation with the respective stakeholders as advised by the Ambassador.
  • Maintain a calendar of key continental events, meetings and manage invitations to specific Pan Africa, Church and Regional bodies.
  • Provide administrative and secretarial services to the Ambassador's office.
  • Attend and participate in chapel and daily devotional meetings
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

The suitable candidate should meet the following minimum requirements:
  • A university degree in Political science, International relations, Communications or related and transferable field of study
  • A minimum of three years experience in a similar position in either WVI or other International Non Governmental Organization
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and editing )
  • Proven ability to prepare concise clear reports, articles and emails
  • Strategic thinking, decision making, and problem solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills to get a foot in the door and to maintain excellent relations with djverse contacts and networks that ensure access for the Ambassador to Leadership at the highest level.
  • Fully fluent in English, facility with French (spoken and written^ would be a plus.
