We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Access Network Planning & Support Department within the Technical Division.

In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below:

RF Strategy-Engineer

Ref: TECHNICAL_RFSE_DEC 09

Reporting to the Senior Manager-RF Strategy & Support, the holder of the position will plan and select radio network technologies, methods and suppliers that best support improved network quality, customer-centric culture and increased data traffic volumes.

In addition he/she will promote best practice sharing between the regional radio planning teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify ways to maximize the radio network resources currently in use;
• Identify future radio network requirements and constraints and proactively plan to mitigate them;
• Promote awareness of emerging technologies and methodologies to technical staff;
• Conceptualize trials and provide detailed evaluation of the technical solutions through identifying the technical components and their interrelationships needed to meet the present and future needs of the radio network;
• Analyze vendor roadmaps Vs technological advancement through an effective RF strategy document resulting in timely transitions to new technologies;

Minimum requirements

• Degree in electrical engineering or electrical science, with an emphasis in telecommunications;
• 2-3 years experience in telecommunication with 1 year minimum in GSM hands–on experience in Radio Network planning;
• Practical Knowledge of equipments in the Safaricom network;
• Must be highly self driven and of an analytical mind;
