The Nairobi Hospital Employment Opportunities

Financial Controller /REF/HRD/FC/12/09

Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to Divisional Senior Accountants and their teams.

Particular Responsibilities Include:
  • Spearheading the budget preparation process, monitoring variances, assisting budget holders with the preparation of business plans and capital investment appraisals.
  • Designing and reviewing systems of monitoring performance against budget.
  • Identifying along with the divisional accountants, possible remedial actions for significant budget variances.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective internal control systems and procedures.
  • Co-ordinating the preparation of accurate and up-to date financial and management accounting information to facilitate decision making.
  • Maintaining an up to date assets register.
  • Ensuring that operational and capital expenditure are appropriate by reviewing and comparing costs with industry standards.
  • Providing relevant monthly statements with appropriate interpretation and advice to the Senior Management Team according to agreed timetables.
  • Effective cash flow and treasury management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in accounting or its equivalent.
  • CPA(K) or ACCA.
  • Seven (7) years progressive working experience in finance with at least three (3) at a senior level.
  • Expert knowledge of accounting, auditing and financial and management reporting.
  • IT literate and proficient in accounting software applications.
Business Analyst /REF/HRD/BS/12/09

Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will be expected to add value to management through analysis of relevant information and provision of timely reports.

Particular Responsibilities Include:
  • Analysing business data as well as macro, industry and market specific data and collating it into management information in a timely fashion for strategic and operational requirements.
  • Collating planning assumptions to assist decision making in the Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Customer Service and Internal Audit functions.
  • Providing functional support for continuous business process reviews, risk identification and control design as well as compliance monitoring through exception reports.
  • Participating in the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Providing support in modelling of projects and financial appraisals of investment projects and new services to drive key investment decisions.
  • Participating in reviewing and developing effective performance dashboards.
  • Reviewing and developing various business KPI’s.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Degree in Statistics, Commerce, Finance or Engineering with CPA (K) or ACCA qualifications.
  • 4 years experience in a similar role.
  • Highly developed analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding and application of management information systems with working experience with ERPs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and presentation skills.
  • A strong results orientation.
  • A track record of success and value addition in previous roles.
Human Resources Officer (Recruitment) /REF/HRD/HRO/12/09:

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Officer will be responsible for the employee resourcing function.

Particular Responsibilities Include:
  • Determining the Hospitals long term human resource needs.
  • Managing the recruitment and selection process effectively.
  • Developing and implementing a variety of recruitment and selection methods.
  • Establishment control.
  • Ensuring timely staff placement.
  • Coordinating primary and departmental induction programs.
  • Participating in all other Human Resources functions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Business Administration or other relevant degree
  • Higher Diploma or Masters in Human Resources Management.
  • Computer Literate.
  • At least 4 years progressive work experience.
  • Effective advisory skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Deputy Procurement & Stores Manager /REF/HRD/DPSM/12/09:

Reporting to the Procurement & Stores Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:

Particular Responsibilities Include:
  • Providing advisory services to line managers and project teams on all procurement and logistics matters.
  • Developing clear technical specifications for procurement of goods and services.
  • Participating in the supplier qualification and selection process.
  • Ensuring that the Hospital has reliable and efficient suppliers with documented quality systems and a sound financial base.
  • Deputizing the Procurement & Stores Manager as Secretary to the Hospital Tender Committee.
  • Developing Invitation to Tender documents.
  • Participating in the review and development of contracting strategies through analysis of the value chain and identifying new opportunities for procurement efficiencies.
  • Supporting and conducting commercial negotiations with prospective suppliers.
  • Conducting market analysis to assist in monitoring and forward planning for supplies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Relevant degree.
  • Full professional Purchasing and Supplies qualification - CIPS or equivalent.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • At least 5 years progressive work experience
  • Computer literate and conversant with computerised procurement and logistics packages.
Medical Librarian /REF/HRD/ML/12/09:

Reporting to the Principal, Cicely McDonnell School of Nursing, the Librarian will be responsible for providing the Hospital fraternity with quality information facilities and resources.

Particular Responsibilities Include:
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the Library.
  • Evaluating, selecting, and making accessible both electronic and print resources for the Hospital employees, students and members of the Admitting Staff Association.
  • Updating the Library’s website pages to facilitate user access to online resources.
  • Preparing and implementing section’s budget.
  • Monitoring the readership and renewal of journals, subscriptions and online resources annually.
  • Inventory management.
  • Providing individual and group instruction on using medical and healthcare online resources.
  • Providing support in editing and producing the Hospital’s Proceedings Medical Journal
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Degree in Library and Information Science.
  • Masters degree in Library/Information will be an added advantage.
  • Five years progressive working experience.
  • IT proficient
