Kenya Wildlife Service Jobs & Careers

The Kenya Wildlife Service is a State Corporation, whose responsibility is to manage and conserve wildlife in Kenya. The Service seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced individuals to fill the following positions at its Headquarters and field.

1. HEAD OF LANDS MANAGEMENT – “JG 3B” (ONE (1) POST)
Reporting to the Deputy Director Corporate Services, the overall responsibility will be to ensure effective management and administration of KWS land properties. The Key responsibilities include:
• Ensuring KWS land properties are secured
• Ensuring the maintenance of up to date records for land and property
• Ensuring acquisition of KWS title deeds
• Ensuring Physical Development Plans (PDP) are undertaken
• Ensuring production of accurate maps and plans, topographical and engineering surveys.
• Developing and implementing land policies and regulations

Job Requirements
• Masters degree in Land Surveying and Photogrammetry or equivalent from a recognized Institution.
• Diploma in Lands Information Systems /GIS-Member of Institute of Surveyors
• Registered Member of Institute of Surveyors.
• Five (5) years’ experience with similar responsibilities and at least three years’ managerial experience.
• Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID.

2. ENGINEER ROADS – “JG 5” (ONE (1) POST)
Reporting to the Chief Engineer roads, the successful candidate’s overall responsibility will be planning, designing and undertaking road construction and maintenance activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensuring inventory and condition survey are carried out
• Evaluating and compiling routine maintenance reports.
• Carrying out geometric and pavement design of roads
• Preparing tender documents, bills of quantities and specifications for roads construction work
• Preparing Request for Proposal (RFP) documents for engineering consultancies

Job Requirements
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized Institution.
• Must be registered as an Engineer with Engineers Registration Board of Kenya.
• At least three (3) years’ experience in road construction, maintenance and project management.
• Team player with excellent managerial, organization and interpersonal skills.
• Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID.

3. LICENSED AIRCRAFT ENGINEER - “JG 5” (ONE (1) POST)
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for day to day management of aircrafts’ maintenance.

Duties and responsibilities
• Carry out maintenance activities.
• Update maintenance data.
• Safe keeping of tools and test equipments.
• Ascertain authenticity of spares.
• Carry out aircraft maintenance away from base.

Job Requirements
• Diploma in Aircraft maintenance.
• In possession of KCAA Engineers License category “A” & “C” with a type rating in PT6 A engine series and rating C208B.
• Satisfactory Performance Appraisal Report from the immediate supervisor
• At least five (5) years’ working experience.
• Proof of current, hands on experience
• Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID.

4. AIRCRAFT TECHNICIAN – “JG 8” (TWO (2) POSTS)
Reporting to the Hanger Supervisor, the overall responsibility will be maintenance and repair of KWS aircrafts.

Duties and responsibilities
• Maintaining and repairing aircrafts
• Keeping safe custody of maintenance tools and parts
• Cleaning the hangar
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Job Requirements
• Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance, or equivalent, obtained from a recognized Institution.
• IT skills.
• Satisfactory Performance Appraisal Report from the immediate supervisor
• At least three (3) years’ working experience.
• Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID.

5. VETERINARY OFFICER II – “JG 6” (TWO (2) POSTS)
Reporting to the Head of Veterinary Services, the overall responsibility will be to undertake routine disease surveillance, investigation, capture and translocation of wildlife.

Duties and responsibilities
• Conduct veterinary research and dissemination of information
• Provide clinical veterinary interventions
• Prepare timely and accurate reports
• Coordinate animal capture and control operations
• Respond to disease outbreaks and reported cases in the parks.
• Provide suitable environment for captive animals

Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized institution.
• Must be a registered member of the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB)
• At least three (3) years’ post qualification working experience.
• Possession of valid Certificate of Good Conduct obtained from the CID.
