Duties and Responsibilities
- The duties include; project proposal writing, experimental design and layout, data collection and analysis, and scientific report writing.
Qualifications
- The candidate should be holders of a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or related sciences from a recognized University with at least a Second Class- Honours (Upper Division)
- Candidates with a Masters degree majoring in one of the following disciplines will have an added advantage; Forest Ecology, Silviculture, Forest Resource Assessment, Analytical/industrial Chemistry and Hydrology.
- The candidate should be able to write scientific reports, seminar and conference papers.
- The candidate should be computer literate.

The duties include implementation of relevant Kenya Forestry Research Institute activities using Geographic Information Systems(GIS) technology covering all types of forest management and utilization.
Using GIS programs to relate information from different sources, data capture, integration, structuring and modeling, and spatial data projection.

Qualifications
- The Candidate must be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree specializing in GIS and Remote Sensing and their application in Natural Resources and Environment Management.
- The candidate should have a working knowledge in GIS Software and Hardware 3.2a, arcGIS 9.2, arc info, ERDAS Imagine and related applications/programs.
- Have relevant experience with Database Management, Data Interpretation/Assessment and Ground-truth verification.
- Must have drawing skills (Manual or Computer assisted), planning and organizing skills.
- He/she should have the ability to interpret/assess enormous amounts of data.
