PROGRAMME EXECUTIVE – IRISH AID

Ireland has been providing development assistance to Tanzania since 1979, and the present country strategy focuses assistance in the areas of general budget support, agriculture, health and governance. Support is provided to both government and non-governmental organisations. The Embassy is recruiting for the new position of Programme Executive. Reporting to the Development Specialist, the Programme Executive will provide general programme management and administrative support in the day-to-day implementation of the country programme.
The Programme Executive will be expected to support the team of development advisors particularly in the areas where Ireland chairs on behalf of the wider development partners - agriculture, gender, nutrition and accountable governance. S/he will also be expected to represent Irish Aid at reviews and meetings. S/he shall also be responsible for carrying out administrative duties and other support as required at the Embassy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The Programme Executive must have:
a primary degree in one of the social sciences or in management administration;
excellent communication and networking skills, sound judgement and the ability to extract, interpret and present information and data;
excellent computer skills;
excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and excellent oral and written English and Kiswahili.
CONDITIONS
The Embassy will offer a comprehensive local salary reflecting the responsibilities of the post and the successful applicant's skills and experience. An initial three year contract will be offered, subject to successful completion of a six month probation period. The post will be based in the Embassy of Ireland, Oar es Salaam and the successful candidate may be required to undertake some in-country travel also.
