Supply Planner Job Vacancy: Safaricom Limited

In keeping with our current business needs the Supply Chain & Administration Division is looking for a person who meets the criteria listed below:

Supply Planner

Ref: SC&A - SP – DEC09

Reporting to the Supply Planning & Logistics Manager, the Supply Planner will be responsible for managing the company’s investment in inventory to meet company requirements by ensuring efficient and realistic supply plans are developed & actioned.

The job holder will ensure availability of stock items, elimination of stock outs, effective use of ERP systems and regular reporting of Key Performance Indicators.

The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
  • Execute Sales and Operations Planning roles by collecting and collating forecast data on sales from respective demand planning functions and Challenge Demand Planners to increase Demand Planning Accuracy;
  • Prepare and present Supply Schedules against forecasts for saleable stock on a monthly basis and as required, to the relevant stakeholders;
  • Translate Supply Plans into materials & inputs and process payments to enable timely availability of saleable stock;
  • Establish supply requirements for short and long terms and follow up supply plans;
  • Derive Supply Plans in specific quantities, configurations, and dates;
  • Derive Material Requirements Plans from Master Supply Schedules;
  • Maintain and use number management system to ensure 100% availability of lines as per demand from month to month;
  • Produce accurate and timely reports in accordance with the Supply Chain and Admin metrics framework;
  • Prepare and distribute weekly reports to key stakeholders on the production plan.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
  • Bachelor’s Business degree in IT, Business Administration or equivalent;
  • Project Management qualifications will be an added advantage;
  • At least 4 years Operational experience in Supply Chain Function(s), specifically Supply Chain Operations, Demand and Supply Planning, or Sales Operations.
  • Hands-on experience in ERP modules and MS Office applications;
  • Good project management and co-ordination skills;
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;
  • Good negotiation skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
