Research Associate
2 year contract with possibility of renewal
Africa Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

The British Council is leading the Africa Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (AKTP) programme in Kenya aimed at helping businesses improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within universities and research institutions.

A number of projects under this programme are currently ongoing.

We are looking for a professionally confident, self-motivated, committed recent graduate to deliver within the following partner project.

The project is for two years with the opportunity of permanent employment upon successful completion of the project.

We are seeking to develop young business leaders of the future and this position offers significant opportunity for professional development.

Based at the company premises, you will play a key role in implementing a strategic project and transferring knowledge between the university and the company.

You will be responsible for the delivery of all project work.

Generic Skills:

You will need to be able to drive the project forward and have the ability to undertake independent and supervised research.

The candidate should possess good analytical, team working and communication skills.

The Sunripe (1976) Limited and the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology partnership will focus on researching and implementing a project on environmental impact and assessment.

Skills required:
  • A good degree in environmental science, agribusiness management, supply chain management, agriculture, or horticulture. A Masters degree will be an added advantage
  • Prior experience in export horticulture and undertaking environmental impact assessment studies is not a prerequisite but is an added advantage
  • IT skills for data collection, research and presentation
The project will entail spending significant time outside of Nairobi (in Naivasha) & possible international travel
