Our client, Maji na Ufanisi is the host organisation for the Secretariat to implement a Civil Society Urban Development Programme to be funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) for an initial three year period.

Programme Coordinator

- ensure the effective coordination, consultation and communication between the Programme's key bodies: the Technical Advisory Group; the Capacity Building Team assisting the implementing and demonstration project partners; and the Civil Society Urban Sector Working Group providing a stakeholders' exchange and joint action forum
- ensure consultation, coordination and reliable information shoring with all relevant Central and Local Government authorities and other stakeholders
- provide effective thought and activity leadership to the Secretariat team, especially ensuring their training and individual performance management
- ensure timely and accurate programme and financial reports to Sida, among others
- under the guidance of the the CEO and in consultation with the CSO Urban Sector Working Group, ensure that long and immediate term Programme goals and objectives are accountably met.
To be considered for the Programme Coordinator petition, you must meet the following minimum requirements.
- A Masters degree in an urban related discipline and training in project management
- At least 8 years' relevant experience at senior management level - preferably in development work with extensive collaborative programme design and implementation, administration and field team supervisory responsibilities
- Sound knowledge of urban development policy and practice issues; strategic management; and project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Demonstrated skills and experience in managing NGO programme administration, finance, and procurement systems
- Strong organisational, team and network facilitative leadership and problem solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Information and Communication Officer
Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, you will be overall responsible for the coordination of information and communication internally within the Programme and its Secretariat as well as externally to all key stakeholders, including the general public.
You will be responsible for the design, development, production and dissemination of the Programme documents and materials and:

- participate as a member of the Secretariat's Management Team, to provide substantive assistance and advice to the Programme Coordinator, the CEO, Programme staff, implementing partners and sub-grantees on information and communication matters
- oversee regular communication through a branded hard copy Newsletter, and other e-based means such as websites and weekly summary reports
- develop and manage the online Programme information library, filing and archiving system at the Secretariat
- advice Implementing Partners on information access, filing and archiving systems
- establish and maintain a Programme data base on Slums and Slum Upgrading, in collaboration with the Department of Slum Upgrading in the Ministry of Housing, and others.

- At least 6 years' relevant experience of information and communication work especially in urban development
- Proficiency with professional editing of technical and public documents

Programme Accountant
Reporting to the Finance & Administration Manager, you will be responsible for the financial accounting of the Programme and its Secretariat.
You will assist in budgeting, cost management and financial reporting as well as in advising Implementing Partners on financial accounting and management.
Specifically, you will support the Financial & Administration Manager in:

- preparing the Programme's Quarterly Management Financial Reports and Annual Final Accounts
- preparing for Audits, and planning and implementing Correction Action Plans tasks in response to the Audit findings and recommendations
- instituting and ensuring financial management capacity building for Implementing Partners
- reviewing Programme Implementing Partners' financial reports For approval by the Secretariat
- managing the Programme's Procurement function, ensuring compliance with the Programme's procurement policy.
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements.
- CPA III qualification, preferably with a relevant University degree
- Minimum 5 years' experience in NGO accounting, preferably in a multi-partner programme implementation environment
- Proven working knowledge of and ability to apply and facilitate other partner NGOs and CBOs to use routinely best practice administrative, financial and accounting principles, methods, techniques and systems for wholesome and integrated Programme financial management

- document and present Programme results, lessons learned and action recommendations to the Civil Society Urban Sector Working Group and other relevant stakeholders.

- A degree in Social Science or other relevant area, with strong quantitatively-related orientation
- At least 6 years' practical experience in developing and utilising strongly learning and action supporting programme monitoring and evaluation systems
- Highly demonstrable ability to work collaboratively with and in building the capacity of NGOs, CSOs, CBOs and other institutional partners
- Experience in the evaluation of development projects using a range of qualitative and quantitative methods

Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, you will be responsible for all the research and advocacy work within the Civil Society Urban Development Programme, including providing support to the Implementing Partners.
Your primary tasks will be to:

- maintain a systematically assessed and documented overview of the needs and opportunities for advocacy within the urban development sector
- establish and maintain partnership links with key advocacy partners
- develop and implement strategies jointly for influencing urban development policy makers and implementers - the Central and Local governments, Parliamentarians, Councillors and other partners - especially on themes directly relevant to poverty and livelihoods for marginalised urban communities
- develop, carry out and monitor advocacy strategies for agreed priority themes and campaigns
- represent the Programme in strategic coordination exchanges for advocacy purposes and government department, private sector and other stakeholder forums
- in collaboration with the Programme Coordinator and the CEO, initiate relevant urban development research
- document and disseminate sector relevant research findings to internal and external stakeholders.
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements.
- Master's Degree in Social Sciences with advocacy or research emphasis
- At least 6 years' working experience in advocacy and research work, with evidence of previous success
- Experience in Urban Development in informal settlements, income generation and similar issues
- Experience in the usage of office software, qualitative and statistical software packages, and other research tools
- Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and group facilitation skills.
