Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Vacant Positions

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Roads established by the Kenya Roads Act, 2007 with the core mandate of management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of all public roads in the cities and municipalities in Kenya except where those roads are national roads.

As the leading Government Agency with the above mandate, we wish to competitively fill the above positions from suitably qualified Kenyans as follows:

1. General Manager (Planning and Environment)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Head of Planning and Environment Division and responsible for all duties under that division including implementing road sector policies for the efficient operation of road infrastructure services under the jurisdiction of the authority;
  • Will be responsible for meeting the performance targets under the division;
  • Carrying out any other duty assigned by the Director General from time to time.
Qualifications
  • Degree in civil engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  • Postgraduate qualifications in transport economics, transport planning, regional planning, environmental studies or its equivalent is an added advantage;
  • Registered Engineer with Kenya Engineers Registration Board.
  • Be a member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
  • Ten (10) years post registration experience in road design, construction and maintenance;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of, environmental, social planning and road safety;
  • Working ICT knowledge for roads management system;
  • Experience urban planning and management;
  • Visible, approachable and energetic with knowledge of how to get things done as part of a management team;
  • Track record of leadership success in a public service environment
  • Experience in the Ministry of Local Government, Local Authorities and/or Ministry of Roads will be an added advantage.
2. General Manager (Administration and Finance)

Duties and Responsibilities

The General Manager, Administration and Finance will be responsible to the Director General for the functions of all Management Support functions of the Authority.

These include Human Resource and Administration, Finance, Procurement and ICT.

The incumbent will focus on formulation of policy and development of operating standards to raise performance to international standards.

Qualifications
  • A bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or Business discipline and CPA(K)/CPS(K) or their equivalent;
  • A Masters Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of 10 years post qualification managerial experience in comparable fields of Finance, Human Resource, Administration and Procurement, five of which should be in senior management;
  • Experience in negotiations with senior government officials and other stakeholders;
  • Proven leadership qualities, integrity, transparency, accountability and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to manage staff and provide good leadership ;
  • Working ICT knowledge in financial systems;
  • Good corporate communication skills.
3. Manager, Roads

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for entire roads project life cycle to include design, construction, maintenance and project completion.

Performance of any other duties as assigned by the General Manager, Roads.

Qualifications
  • Degree in civil engineering, or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Registered Engineer with Kenya Engineers Registration Board.
  • Be a member of Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
  • Five (5) years post registration experience, three (3) of which should be in road design, construction, and/or maintenance.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in planning, design, construction and maintenance of roads.

4. Senior Engineer

Qualifications
  • Degree in Surveying and photogrammetry or equivalent from a recognized University.
  • Be conversant with modern survey equipment (GPS, Total station etc.) and be competent in Computer Aided Design (CAD), GIS and Image Processing softwares
