A community based group organization in Meru North District seeks to fill a contract for a horticulturist.
The successful applicant will work with a women’s group to demonstrate new crops and develop food security as part of a project.
Contract term is to March 2011 with possibility of extension.
Desired qualifications:-

Desired qualifications:-
- A degree in horticulture or agriculture.
- At least three years directly related work experience undertaking community work and agriculture,
- Computer / internet knowledge necessary
- Ability to work independently, a creative thinker and planner with excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:-
- Planning, coordination and execution of project activities.
- Preparation and submission of project reports.
- Support and guide the group with crop development and marketing.
- Facilitate a participatory community based monitoring and evaluation of project activities and organize relevant training.
- Network with relevant organizations.
- Arrange for the procurement of materials needed by the project.
- Provide guidance to the group on book keeping and accounts
