Field Director in Wau, Southern Sudan

  • Providing capacity development assistance, coaching and mentoring to local partners on a continual basis;
  • Coordinating participatory organizational assessments and capacity building plan implementation;
  • Overseeing preparation of organizational human resource and financial material;
  • Undertaking and facilitating technical assistance and training sessions for local partner’s management and staff and assisting in the improvement of organizational structure and operations;
  • Working with local partners in designing strategies for alliance and partnership building

  1. Other Duties
  • Liaising with donors, NGOs and government and engaging stakeholders in the dissemination of lessons learned;
  • Exploring potential business development opportunities and gathering intelligence for ascertaining critical issues and challenges related to project implementation;
  • Acting as a focal point for CHF programming in the field

Key Requirements:

  • Masters degree or equivalent in a field related to development;
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in a field related to international development;
  • Project management, financial management and monitoring and evaluation experience, preferably with CIDA funded projects;
  • Proven leadership skills, demonstrating high degree of adaptability and creativity
  • Proven skills in capacity building of local NGOs, with experience providing technical assistance and training;
  • Experience in partnership-building and working in collaboration with Southern partner organizations, governments and donors;
  • Thorough knowledge of the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach and other participatory approaches;
  • Experience in Africa, preferably in the Sudan
  • Ability to communicate effectively, establishing strong supportive relationships with partners and staff
  • Excellent communication, networking and English writing skills
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or have Landed Immigrant status to be considered
