Job Title: Planning and Portfolio Manager East and Southern Africa

Primary Location: Nairobi, Kenya

The Job:

The Portfolio manager will be responsible for leading design and deployment of product portfolio offering in the local market, driving business planning, and representing an expert view on the local consumer and competitive landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead design and deployment of solutions portfolio offering in the local market, including responsibility for:

  • Leadership of the local market portfolio prioritization, including new devices introduction, management of existing devices based on going performance, lifecycle management, and – importantly – incorporation of solutions portfolio thinking to design local combos, services offering, and solutions portfolio in collaboration with services marketing / solutions manager.

Lead local competitive and consumer analysis and insights

  • Does in depth competitive analysis on devices, services and solutions in the local market, refreshing understanding ongoing to document and share full competitive picture for the local market.
  • Analyses GFK and sales data to identify insights and business learnings.
  • Owns consumer insights for the local market – an expert on the local consumer.
  • Lead all research execution and conclusions for the local team.
  • Responds to consumer and competitive insights with concrete recommendations and action plans to win vs competition and gain share with consumers.
  • Leads competitive fight back as needed by the local market.

Leads marketing business planning cycles, partnering closely with F&C who lead on LSU business planning and account teams who lead sales planning.

  • Leads monthly marketing business overview and planning, coordinating inputs from various sources (competitive updates, sales trends, brand metrics, market share etc), and analyzing data to form concrete conclusions for marketing action. Recommends action plans and changes to STP marketing investment on the basis of regular analysis of the business in all aspects.
  • Participates in F&C-led business planning cycles to ensure alignment with portfolio and provide expert input on competition and consumer to influence business decisions in the LSU. Actively drives transition planning, ramp-up and EOL inputs and execution.
  • Leads marketing STP planning inputs. Includes full business review plus investment strategy, working with activation.


Requirements

  • Degree in business related field
  • At least 3 years experience in FMCG at management level preferably in marketing/brand management

Cross-Solutions Portfolio Management: Drives the GTM solutions portfolio planning, including requirements, customization and retention management.

Commercial Acumen: Applies business insight to marketing decisions to deliver clear measurable brand and business metrics that delivers an optimal return on marketing investment. Develops and implements short and long term marketing plans that supports business targets

Consumer Focus : Understands and applies consumer insight to business processes, guiding activities to begin and end with the consumer in mind. Is on the pulse of both short and long-term consumer needs and behaviors, enabling identification of new business opportunities.
