Director Policy Advocacy and Membership Development:

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will provide leadership to the Federation’s Research and Information Management Centre, Marketing and Sales.
The successful candidate will drive the formulation of policy advocacy agenda as well as overseeing the membership development function. S/he will develop and implement dynamic products portfolio aligned to the needs of the members and other target markets, advocacy strategies; membership recruitment and retention strategies that will result in membership growth and satisfaction.
Minimum Requirements:
- Be a holder of at least a Masters Degree in Social Sciences, preferably Economics, Business Administration, Marketing or International Relations.
- 7 years of experience at senior management in a membership based organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of research and policy analysis.
- Must have hands-on knowledge of computer based data analysis and demonstrate capacity to analyze and effectively interpret data.
- An effective public speaker and possess excellent writing and editing skills

Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to the Federation’s Research function and coordinate strategic analysis and monitoring of policy issues that will inform the Federation’s strategic direction and service delivery.
He / She will provide Leadership in the development and implementation of the advocacy agenda and partnership building strategy for the organization. She/he will oversee day-to-day running of the Federation’s research and policy function and create a research portfolio that can shape public opinion, inform practice and policy advocacy, and support best practices that lead to improved labour productivity and social develop outcomes. He/she will have proven success securing funding for his/her research, and will be a strategic thinker.
Minimum Requirements
The suitable candidate must demonstrate skills and competences in the following areas:
- Be a holder of at least a Masters Degree in Social Sciences, preferably Economics or with a specialization in labour economics, industrial economics or development economics.
- Must have served in a senior managerial position in the public or private sector for at least five years, and worked in an area directly related to policy formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of research and policy analysis.

She/he will advise employers on negotiation procedures, employment matters, and represent them in trade disputes at the Ministry of Labour and the industrial court when required. She/he will also be expected to contribute to membership satisfaction and growth through quality service delivery as well as recruitment of new members.
Minimum Requirements:
- LLB degree from a recognized university.
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
- At least 7 years post qualification experience with proven track record.
- Sound knowledge of labour laws and industrial relations.
- Experience in training is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated competency in drafting legal instruments including employment contracts, memorandums, opinions and organization policies and manuals.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with Trade Unions and handle disputes, grievances and disciplinary issues.

Minimum Requirements:
