National Water Conservation & Pipeline Corporation (NWCPC) was established under the State Corporations Act, Chapter 446 of the Laws of Kenya vide Legal Notice 270 of 24th June, 1988.
Following the enactment of the Water Act 2002, the Corporation’s roles changed and it assumed the following new mandate:
  • To develop state schemes and spearhead dam construction for water supplies, flood control and other multi-purpose uses, land drainage and construction of dykes.
  • To carry out ground water recharge using flood water.
  • To develop new, retain existing and expand bulk water supply to Water Services Boards and other Water Service Providers.
  • Drill and equip boreholes.
The Corporation is seeking to recruit suitable, self driven, result oriented, highly motivated and qualified personnel to fill the following vacant positions on permanent and pensionable basis to be stationed in Nairobi.
1. Advert No. 8/2010 – Re-advertisement
Job Title: Engineer I
Grade: NWC 8
Positions Vacant: 2
Requirements for Appointment
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering/Water Irrigation from a recognized institution.
  • MUST be registered with Engineers Registration Board of Kenya.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • 3 years experience as Engineer II or its equivalent.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To participate in planning, designing, construction, operation and maintenance of water and other engineering projects that the organization is involved in.
  • To undertake general management projects including land compensation, budgeting and financial control.
  • To undertake preparation of specifications, contract documents and costing of various operations that go into the design, construction, operation and maintenance of water projects and conservation structures as well as in other engineering areas.
  • To supervise technical and junior officers under him/her.
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
2.  Advert No. 18/2010
Job Title: Chief Procurement Officer
Grade:
NWC 10
Positions Vacant: 1
Requirements for Appointment
  • Bachelors Degree in Commerce/Economics.
  • Diploma in Supplies Management.
  • Clean record of service in the previous organization.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • 9 years of experience, 3 of them as Principal Procurement Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To oversee efficient provision of procurement services at the Corporation.
  • To oversee reviewing, updating, interpretation and implementing supplies policies, regulations, procedures and systems in line with Government policy.
  • To oversee proper implementation of supplies procedures, and disposal of unserviceable and/or obsolete stores.
  • To ensure maintenance of supply chain linkages for the benefit of the organization.
  • To control the supplies vote.
  • To ensure proper supervision, guidance, training and development of staff in the Procurement Section.
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
3. Advert No. 19/2010
Job Title: Senior Security Officer
Grade:
NWC 8
Positions Vacant: 1
Requirements for Appointment
  • To have satisfactorily served with the Kenya Police in the rank of Inspector or an equivalent rank in the Armed Forces, Prisons Service or the National Youth Service for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  • Advanced Certificate in First Aid.
  • Clean record of service in the previous organization.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • 9 years of experience, 3 of them as Security Officer I.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To monitor security matters in the Corporation.
  • To carry out investigative activities where necessary.
  • To advise the Corporation on best security intervention measures.
  • To advise the Chief Human Resources & Administration Manager on all security matters.
  • To liaise closely with other Governmental security organs such as the Kenya Police in all security matters affecting the Corporation.
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
4. Advert No. 20/2010
Job Title: Procurement Officer II
Grade:
NWC 6
Positions Vacant: 1
Requirements for Appointment
  • Bachelors Degree in Commerce/Economics.
  • Diploma in Supplies Management.
  • Clean record of service in the previous organization.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Has an experience of the above post for a minimum period of two (2) years.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • To assist in procurement and safe custody of stores.
  • To undertakes issuance of stores.
  • To monitors stock levels and recommends re-ordering when stocks reach re-order levels.
  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time.
