The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organisation with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles.

The ICRC's Regional Delegation in Nairobi co-ordinates the institution's humanitarian activities in Kenya, Tanzania and Djibouti. It also runs regional specialist units that provide support and expertise to the ICRC's delegations in East Africa, the Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa.

Human Resources Clerical Officer

The ICRC in Nairobi is seeking an experienced and highly motivated person to fill the above-mentioned position.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, the tasks and responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining all physical and electronic personal, archived and general files;
  • Verifying correctness of employee's dependants for ICRC benefits;
  • Ensuring completion of all employment forms and requirements;
  • Leave control;
  • Updating employee's medical database and monitoring the out-patient medical balances for the employee's dependants;
  • Making arrangement & administering written and computer selection tests;
  • Preparing regret letters;
  • Assisting in sourcing daily workers, as needed:
  • Maintaining employee NHIF cards and NHIFcertificates of contributions (CCP) book;
  • Consolidation of training requests and issuance of books from the HR resource centre;
  • Maintaining the stationery cupboard;
  • Any other duties as delegated.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Academic - O-level;
  • Diploma in Human Resources Management;
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel,);
  • At least 2 years experience in a similar position, preferably with NGO's.

  • Able to respect strict deadlines.
