Position: NUTRITION SURVEY PROGRAM MANAGER

Location: MANDERA DISTRICT

Responsible to: SURVEILLANCE (FSNP) PROGRAM MANAGER

Duration: 2 MONTHS

ACF (USA) Kenya Mission is looking to recruiting on a consultancy basis, a Nutrition Survey Program Manager, who will be responsible for the implementation of 3 integrated nutrition surveys in Mandera district in Northern Kenya with the support of the Surveillance department.

The Program Manager will be responsible for the coordination of the three nutritional surveys in Mandera area covering the divisions of Mandera Central, Khalalio, Rhamu Dimtu, Malkamari, Banissa, Takaba, and Dandu. S/he will be responsible for the field teams. His tasks will include compiling, analysing and reporting surveillance data from program areas in a comprehensive manner. The integrated survey covers nutrition, food security and livelihood, water and sanitation and health care practices data.

The main activities will include the:

  • Implementation of the integrated nutritional surveys with the collaboration of the local authorities and MoH
  • Collaboration and collection of information from others potentials partners in the field (NGOs, Health structures, community…)
  • Collection of demographic data for the nutritional survey planification
  • Creation of an activities calendar in coordination with DC, CMN, asst CMN
  • Collaboration with CMN/asst CMN and technical department in the HQ for validation of methodology, training material, and reporting
  • Collaboration with logistic (Nairobi and Mandera) for supplying different materials for the survey and field movement
  • Design of the program of activities / activity plans for the surveillance team in collaboration with the logistics department and the District Commissioner
  • Recruitment and staff training, including a pilot survey
  • Supervision of the integrated nutrition survey teams
  • Collaboration with others ACF departments (finance and logistics).
  • Implementation of the integrated nutritional surveys in different divisions
  • Data collection of all surveillance data, ensure proper entry, analysis and reporting. This will be done in coordination with the surveillance manager and through the field surveillance officers
  • Insurance of adherence between field activities and Government of Kenya procedures / protocols / guidelines designed for nutrition surveillance: respect of methodology, reporting process, etc.
  • Drafting and final writing of the Executive Summary reports and Final report


PROFILE REQUIRED:

Academics: Degree in Nutrition Sciences, Strong background in surveillance and food security;

Experience: previous experience in nutrition survey required;

Language skills: Fluent in English and local language;

Computer skills: Proficiency in SMART (Epi Info, ENA, SPSS) a definite advantage

Other skills: Strong analysis skills; Good management, communication teamwork spirit, community participation, capacity building, good knowledge of nutrition and food security assessment.

Location: MANDERA DISTRICT

Responsible to: NUTRITION SURVEY PROGRAM MANAGER

Duration: 2 MONTHS

The Nutrition Survey Assistant Program Manager will supports the Program Manger in the implementation of 3 integrated nutrition surveys in Mandera district, North Kenya with the support of the Surveillance department.

S/he will provide support in the coordination of the three surveys and the field teams. Key tasks will includes compiling, analysing and reporting surveillance data from program areas in a comprehensive manner. The integrated survey covers nutrition, food security and livelihoods, water and sanitation and health care practices data.

PROFILE REQUIRED:

Academics: Graduate /Diploma in Nutrition Sciences, Strong background in surveillance and food security

Experience: previous experience in nutrition survey mandatory

Language skills: Fluency in English and local language

Computer skills: Proficiency in SMART (Epi Info, ENA, SPSS, an advantage)

Other skills: Strong analysis skills. Good management, communication teamwork spirit, community participation, capacity building, good knowledge of nutrition and food security assessment.
