Telecommunications Engineer - Agumba Computers Ltd, Tanzania

Location: Dar es Salaam

Reporting to : Executive Officer

Agumba Computers Limited is an outstanding IT company in Tanzania with a wide range of IT solutions including Computer Sales, Technical Suport, Networking Technology (LAN & WAN), Web Design, Internet Products, Data Communications and IT Security. The company has three subsidiaries all located in Dar es Salaam with its growing number of staff. The company has the following vacancies that need to be filled by qualified, experienced, committed and self motivated Tanzanians.



Job Summary

Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for Designing, installing, maintaining and supporting computer communication networks. He!She is responsible for inspection, designing, analyzing and repairing any equipment or service related to the field of telecommunications.



Main duties and responsibilities

• To provide ongoing maintenance and support of the existing telecommunications services and equipment while planning and implementing future IT developments

• To handle a team of managed service and network operation center for telecommunication operations

• To troubleshoot equipment and technical problems that can happen in the field or through routine inspections

• To identify, asses and find solutions to the various technical problems together with designing and creating telecommunications systems

• To provide customer support on all telecommunications' issues and concerns

• To install, configure, maintain network services, equipment and devices

• To plan and support network and computing infrastructure

• To undertake routine preventative measures and implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security

• To provide training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence in the field and within the company

• To ensure that network infrastructure is secure and scaled in line with company business policy

• To be responsible for ensuring that the network has been customized to satisfy customers' needs and wants

• To work closely with key customers to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions to their business needs

• To manage overall purchasing and billing functions of networking services and equipment

• To perform other duties as may be assigned by your immediate supervisor



Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, (CCNA, CCNP) and or other related field

• Good knowledge in Windows server and Iinux servers

• Have full experience in fiber & microwaves link, any wireless communication Wi-Max, 2G/3G, GSM, HSDPA & HSPA.

• 3+ years working experience in a reputable IT organization

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Eager to learn new products and technologies

• Analytical and problem solving skills

• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non- technical end• users

• Ability to work independently and implement tasks with minimum supervision under the scaled timeframe
