UNICEF/North Sudan/2010/16 - Project Assistant - Education - GS 5 - Khartoum


United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), North Sudan Area Programme, is pleased to announce the following job opportunity:
VN No.:  UNICEF/North Sudan/2010/16;  Title of the Post:  Project Assistant - Education;  Level:  GS 5;  Type of Appointment:  Temporary Appointment;  Duty Station:  Khartoum.
Purpose of the Post:
Under close supervision and technical guidance of the Chief of Education, the incumbent collects information, maintains records and prepares documentation and correspondence pertaining to the Basic Education programme activities.
Major Duties and Reponsibilities:
• Collects data and other information mainly from records and reports and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports on programme and project activities including collection of ground water data and other relevant information.
• Maintains logs, files, prepares and updates records, documents and control plans on the status of projects at formulation, implementation and operational stages. 
• Ensures requests, payments, supply procurement and other necessary administrative and financial actions for the education section in timely manner. 
• Assists the Education Section in reviewing and drafting all ProMs-related transactions i.e. payments request, Travel Authorizations, CRQs etc.
• Summarizes information reflecting current obligations and future programmes and/or budgetary implications.
• Assists in tracking and processing liquidations of DCTs and supply assistance to government and other partners.
• Contributes to the preparation of reports, project documents and submissions to governments by providing information, preparing tables and drafting relatively routine sections.  Prepares background information for use in discussions with governments and other organizations. Participates in the briefing and debriefing of project personnel.
• Assists in translating documents, correspondences, and proceedings of meeting with stakeholders and visitors from Arabic to English and vice versa, both written & spoken, to ensure smooth communication
• Prepares travel authorizations, security clearances and notifications for all Education Section staff travel and provide necessary administrative support for the coordination between UNICEF and the counterparts and partners. 
• Provides daily and weekly situation reports; and prepare relevant technical reports as required.
• Performs other duties, as requested.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:
• Completion of secondary education.
• Five years of experience, including records keeping, financial report review, and processing of information.
• Good skills in filing, organizing documents and workplace is an asset
• Working knowledge of English and Arabic.
• Experiences in working with the government counterparts or international relief, emergency or development agencies would be an asset
