Broad Description of the Role:
Mechanic is responsible for the repair/maintenance of all ARC vehicles, generators, and motorcycles on a timely manner and transportation of all ARC vehicles, motorcycles and generators spare parts as requested by the supervisor. Mechanic is to be punctual and timely with his repair/maintenance and ensure regular repair and maintenance of vehicles, generators and motorcycles.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Document all relevant activities in a vehicle service log immediately after repair/maintenance.
2. Orders spare parts and supplies for all field based vehicles, motorcycles and generators as needed through the supervisor
3. Plans regular maintenance of ARC vehicle, motorbikes, and generators including repairs.
4. Ensures that all ARC vehicles are equipped with all necessary tools, radio communication sets.
5. Verify vehicle logbooks and ensures that they are filled and well kept by ARC drivers.
6. Make requests of fast moving spare parts for all ARC vehicles, generators and motorbikes.
7. Provide basic vehicles maintenance/repair training for all ARC drivers including Logistics Assistants and Officers
8. Travels to the field in order to make repairs/maintenance in case of breakdowns or other vehicle, motorcycle and generator mechanic problems.
9. Conduct regular maintenance/repairs of all ARC vehicles, generators and motorcycles including field base
10. Provide periodical and regular vehicles, generators and motorbikes maintenance reports
11. Provide weekly and monthly vehicle, generator, and motorcycle status report
12. Conduct monthly vehicles, generators and motorbikes assessment in Juba and at field offices
13. Request needed spare parts for vehicles and motorbikes on a timely manner
14. Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
1. O Level Certificate or equivalent with 3 - 5 years work experience
2. 3 years work experience as a Mechanic
3. Holds a valid Sudanese Driving Permit
4. Proven trustworthiness and willingness to work as a team member, take direction, and share information with fellow ARC staff members
5. Willingness to live under difficult physical and security conditions and the necessary restrictions that this entails, including the UNDSS/SPLM Ground Rules.
6. Willingness to work long hours and stay in other ARC locations for long periods of time.
7. Fluency in English required (spoken and written), conversational Arabic is an advantage.
