East African Cables (Tanzania) - Commercial Manager

East African Cables (Tanzania) Ltd, (a subsidiary of East African Cables Limited), is a leading manufacturer of electrical cables and conductors, as well as a distributor of data and telecommunication cables and accessories.

The Company wishes to strengthen its human resources base in order to position itself for future growth and expansion by recruiting qualified, self driven and result oriented individuals to fill the following positions:

Commercial Manager

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Commercial Manager formulates and implements marketing, sales and customer relations strategies in order to increase the organization’s revenue.

She/he will develop and negotiate strategic partnerships to enhance the company’s competitive position and play a crucial role in product and market development.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement sales, PR and marketing plans and strategies to develop market share and sales revenue.
  • Establish and maintain good corporate relations and implement a PR and customer care management programme.
  • Steer market research and intelligence, and conceptualize new products for the market
  • Develop the export market
  • Ensure smooth implementation of strategic partnerships & distribution of partner products
  • Steer the organization’s product diversification initiatives and launch new products in liaison with other departments to meet market demand.
  • Coordinate and deliver promotion support for existing and new products within budget and liaise with promotion agencies.
  • Monitor the performance of different products and advise management accordingly
  • Prepare marketing budgets and ensure they are adhered to.
  • Ensure high level company visibility in the market
  • Set sales targets for staff in the department and assess their performance to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Participate in the all round management and development of human resources in the department
Academic Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in a Sales and/or Marketing related field
Professional Qualifications
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualifications or its equivalent
Experience
  • Ten years working experience in sales & marketing of construction materials or equipment, three of which should be at a senior level
Skills
  • Strong selling skills
  • Good marketing and public relations skills
  • Strong management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to develop, formulate strategy and exercise good judgment
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Member of Professional Body/Society
