Nairobi Tour Company - Operations Manager and Transport Manager

A leading tour company based in Nairobi is looking for very dynamic self driven persons to fill in the following positions. The company wishes to enhance its effectiveness in all areas so that the company’s objective is met.

A) Operations Manager
  • Age 35 years to 43years
  • Plan, develop and implement strategy for operational management and development so as to meet agreed organizational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of operational management and development
  • Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales
  • Manage and develop direct reporting staff i.e. safari directors, safari drivers and office operational staff.
  • Manage and control safari directors and transport expenditure within agreed budgets
  • Liaise with other functional departmental managers so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes and achievements
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary operational development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to directors, managers and staff within the organization
  • Contribute to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in co-optation with the management team
  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
  • Ensuring the monthly SDS chart is up to date and the air grid.
  • Liaising with Tanzania office to check on operational progress in Tanzania.
  • Conducting daily de-briefs and pre- briefs for safari directors.
B) Transport Manager
  • Age 35 Years to 45 years
  • Making sure the operation meets its performance and safety targets, monitoring and reporting performance to management;
  • Writing clear reports and presenting options and recommendations to management;
  • Advising on policy and strategic developments, examining business decisions (pricing policy, level of service provision, timetable changes) to assess their impact
  • Ensuring that all operations are carried out in accordance with Kenya and Tanazania laws and regulations, particularly relating to health and safety;
  • Managing and supervising staff, organising work shift rotas and coordinating staff training;
  • Negotiating and managing contracts
  • Minimising disruption and resolving any unscheduled delays, making decisions in difficult situations;
  • Meeting and dealing with complaints and areas of concern;
  • Analysing results of surveys on customer satisfaction, instigating new projects to improve performance;
  • Ensuring that transport services are available;
  • Identifying existing and possible future transport problems, developing transport models and investigating the feasibility of alternative means of transport;
  • Liaising with watchdogs and other professional bodies;
  • Using IT systems for tasks such as timetabling and managing usage flows.
