Senior Retail Auditor

Reporting to the Retail Audit Manager, the job holder will be responsible for improving the retail control environment by providing proactive recommendations on control issues and execution of audit assignments as per the annual retail audit plan and other investigations driven by business needs.

Reporting to the Retail Audit Manager, the job holder will be responsible for improving the retail control environment by providing proactive recommendations on control issues and execution of audit assignments as per the annual retail audit plan and other investigations driven by business needs.
The job holder’s key responsibilities will be to:
- Execute specific audit assignments as dictated by the retail audit plan;
- Identify and discuss all control weaknesses and recommendations for efficiency with management;
- Identify and communicate apparent failures in the control framework within the retail process;
- Maintain accurate records to support and satisfy audit tests;
- Identify and promote good business practice within the company;
- Monitor implementation status of past retail audit recommendations;
- Monitor budgets set for a given retail audit assignment and ensuring execution is within defined timelines.
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies:
- Upper second class degree in Business or Commerce or other relevant degree from a recognized University;
- Fully qualified CPA (K) or equivalent. CIA qualification is an added advantage;
- 5 years audit experience in a reputable organization. Retail audit experience will be an added advantage;
- An understanding of the working of various accounting packages (Oracle and POS will be an added advantage);
- Fully conversant on use of computer aided auditing techniques (CAAT’s);
- Working knowledge of MS Office tools. Experience in the use of electronic working papers will be an added advantage;
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
