Applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified candidates who are Kenyan Nationals to fill the above position on a Fixed Term Appointment in Communication, Partnership and Participation Section of UNICEF Kenya Country Office.

Purpose of Post: Under the direct supervision of the Communications Officer and general guidance of the Deputy Representative, responsible for the consolidation of donor reports for UNICEF Kenya, based on information gathered from programme sectors and field offices. Incumbent is also responsible for monitoring schedule of reports, based on information
consolidated by the Budget Control Unit.

Also ensures the timely preparation and dissemination of other mandatory and special reports, as well as briefing documents and corporate publications relating to programme activities in support of the UNICEF mission in the country. Incumbent responsible for using information on programme activities to update the UNICEF Kenya website.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Timely and accurate reporting and monitoring of donor reports. This includes gathering of information, consolidation, editing and production of interim and final reports as per set deadlines as well as the production of Consolidated Donor Report(s).

2) Collaborate with the Deputy Representative and Section Heads to compile, produce and disseminate mandatory UNICEF reports, including the Annual Report.

3) Contribute to the development of fundraising proposals in line with the overall fundraising strategy. This includes compilation of information, editing and layout when necessary.

4) Support fundraising and other missions through the compilation and preparation of briefing and other programme documents for advocacy and information sharing purposes.

5) Enable an 'institutional memory' within the office through development and maintenance of record keeping of reports, proposals and other material developed for reporting and fundraising.

6) Maintain regular contact with programme sections in order to ensure an updated and comprehensive knowledge base on UNICEF programmes for use in material development.

7) Assist development and regularly update the UNICEF Kenya website utilizing materials and information from briefing packs for donors, donor reports, and feature stories generated by the section.

Required Qualifications: University degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations; or equivalent professional work experience in the communication area.

Competencies:
  • Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form;
  • Specific skills in writing reports and proposals;
  • Proven ability to effectively manage relationships with programme colleagues and donors, government officials and other UNICEF partners;
  • Knowledge of computer systems, internet navigation and various office applications, specifically interactive digital media;
  • Ability to handle excel and UNICEF's ProgrammeManagement Systems;
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.

Experience: Two years progressively responsible professional work experience in development agency or communication field handling development issues.

Language(s):
Fluency in English and another UN language is desirable. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.

Program Coordinator- Kenya (American Red Cross)

The Programme Coordinator for the American Red Cross reports to the Regional Director, Africa. The American Red Cross (ARC) has been working in Kenya since 2001 and has supported projects in the areas of water and sanitation, disaster response and planning.

In January 2009 ARC plans to start a 3 year HIV/AIDS project in collaboration with the Kenyan Red Cross. The project, which includes home based care, OVC programming, and prevention education will work in two districts in Western Kenya.

The American Red Cross is seeking a Program Coordinator to manage this project, as well as to provide oversight to its other projects in Kenya. The Program Coordinator will also have representational duties of ARC office in Kenya. S/he will be based in Nairobi, with about 30% of travel to the field.

  1. Serve as the primary technical and management officer for a new multi-year HIV/AIDS program in Western Kenya, overseeing the implementation and evaluation of program activities, including technical and financial management.

The Job
The job holder will be responsible for ensuring constant availability of stock items in the stores and providing adequate and quality supplies to all users so as to enhance Customer service in the Bank

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the required stock levels of stores items and ensuring there are no stock outs for essential items.
  • Preparing and maintaining suppliers' profile for essential items.
  • Ensuring effective and efficient utilization of stock items and assets in the store.
  • Preparing of periodic unit reports and ensuring targets are met.
  • Following up with suppliers, deliveries of stock items once orders have been placed and ensuring quality supplies.
  • Coordinating stock taking activities and ensuring any stock variance is cleared ie stock balancing and reconciliation
  • Ensuring maintenance of complete and accurate stock records.
  • Coordinating periodic review of stock levels to ensure optimum levels.
  • Certifying invoices and processing payments within the specified limits.
  • Carrying out market surveys to determine prevailing market prices and specifications of various items.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Admin/Management or Purchasing & Supplies or Business related field.
  • Diploma in Purchasing & Supplies/ Stores Management.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency.
  • Supervisory/Management Development courses or seminars
  • Possession of CPA/CPS qualifications will be added advantage
  • Minimum four (4) years' relevant experience.

MARKETING OFFICER (BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT)

The Job
The position holder will be responsible for conducting market research and surveys to facilitate development of new products and services as well as the review of existing products/services to enhance the Bank business development strategies.

Key Responsibilities;
  • Monitoring the competition closely and regularly inform the management of new developments.
  • Carrying our feasibility studies to determine viability of new branches and products as per the corporate plan.
  • Monitoring products life cycles of the Bank's products.
  • Initiating methods and strategies for effective market segmentation and coverage.
  • Participating in product developments, launching and re-launching of new and existing products.
  • Carrying out SWOT analysis for the Bank's products, business units and branches.
  • Collecting and analyzing market information to determine the Bank's market position and help develop and review business strategies.
  • Analyzing business media developments.
  • Maintaining customer database and collecting views to assist in customer service and business growth strategies.
  • Preparing monthly reports to assist in forecasting, measuring market share, market trends and demand and advertising effectiveness.
Qualifications and Experience

CLINICAL OFFICER

The Job
The job holder who will be reporting to the Senior Clinical Officer or Medical Officer, will be responsible for providing and supporting medical services and clinical activities for Bank employees at the Clinic

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising management on health issues affecting all employees and preparing regular reports on health trends in the Bank and the country.
  • Facilitating and participating in health education programs in the Bank.
  • Attending and diagnosing cases and treating patients (i.e. Bank employees their families/dependants).
  • Arranging and making necessary referrals of patients for further examination and specialized treatment.
  • Ensuring that appropriate medical records, including available drugs and other clinic facilities and equipments are properly serviced and maintained
  • Assisting the Senior Clinical Officer or Medical Officer in the administration and supervision of the Bank Staff Clinic.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Higher National Diploma in Clinical Medicine/Surgery
  • Specialized in such areas as paediatrics, ophthalmology, orthopedics or ENT.
  • Registration with Clinical Officers' Council
  • Proven Counselling skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency.
  • Possession of Supervisory or basic management skills
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of HIV/AIDS.
  • Minimum three (3) years' relevant experience from a busy Hospital or Institution health service facility

Reporting to the Head, Custody Services, the Manager Trustee Services and Compliance will involve planning and undertaking reviews to ensure that the operations of our Collective Investment Schemes and Retirement Benefits Schemes customers are conducted in compliance with both internal guidelines and external regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

THE PERSON

The Head, Alternative Business Channels will be responsible for developing and implementing non conventional financial products and services including but not limited to electronic banking services and value chain business relationships to improve customer service and generate revenues in line with the KCB Group Business Strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To develop non conventional banking products and services through use of technology driven solutions for the benefit of Bank customers
  • Promotion and provision of forms of financial intermediation for marginal market segments, which are difficult to serve effectively through traditional channels and methods of contact with the Customers due to their size or income structure
  • Provision of value chain services through partnerships, brokerages and manufacturers to provide comfort, security and efficiency to our customers
  • Support the retail and corporate banking services through creative and innovative methods by championing IT related products to meet their client needs
  • Generate revenue in line with strategic goals and vision
  • Create cost saving opportunities for the benefit of both the bank and the consumers
THE PERSON
