Based at Bulyanhulu Mine Site, the Safety Training Officers will be responsible for Safety Training for both, underground and Surface areas.
Reporting Line: Safety Coordinator
Location: Bulyanhulu Gold Mine; 1000km inland from Oar es Salaam; Kahama District, Shinyanga Region
Work Schedule: Rotational Status, (8 weeks on 4 weeks off)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
• Conduct Workplace inspections and audits as required.
• Assist in investigations.
• Assist in development and revision of standards, procedures or checklists.
• Record daily, weekly and monthly statistics.
• Monitor and follow up on incident investigation recommendations to ensure actions are complete and implemented.
• Provide on the- job coaching of employees on FLRA and JSAs
• Assist with facilitation of formal risk assessments.
• Provides support and guidance to safety Representatives
• Ensure complian ith relevant Tanzania OHS regulations and corporate codes of practice.
• Actively support and participate in safety initiatives or training as required.
• Understanding of related department activities and manage their impact on the program.
• Lead and influence change whilst deve'or ng a positive safety culture.
QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED:
• Qualified to certificate IV Safety Management.
• A working experience of Microsoft f'ffice programs, including Word, Excel and Power Point; as well as computer systems and databases.
• Detail exposure to fire and rescue training and emergency management
• Knowledge of training courses such as risk management and incident investigations.
• Previous experience/exposure (shift boss level) to mining activities in an operational capacity will be well regarded.
• Detail knowledge of the application of safety processes and standards in underground and surface mining operations.
• Relevant experience in fire and rescue operations.
• Exposure to the challenges of operating in remote sites and in particular developing countries.
• Demonstrated experience in emergency response, fire and rescue.
• Previous site experience in remote countries
• Well developed verbal and written communication skills.
• Relevant experience in presenting training courses such as incident investigations and risk management.
• Experienced in guidance and support of employees at all levels of the organization to identify potential safety issues and emergency response issues and the development of recommendations and implementation thereof.
• Significant experience in dealing with all aspects of safety and risk management
