Geita Gold Mine (GGM) is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of North Western Tanzania located just 4 km west of Geita Town and about 120 km South of Lake Victoria, Mwanza Region. The Mine is owned and managed by a giant African Gold producing Company, Anglo Gold Ashanti Limited.
GGM currently has a vacancy for position mentioned below to work on the Mine Site. The primary motive of this position is to provide truly innovative and integrated business solution to meet and support functions to ensure the smooth delivery that impact across all areas of GGM operations.
PURPOSE: Maintenance, updating and upgrading of the Wonderware Scada system used in the Process Plant, as well as other duties related to process plant circuit control, instrumentation and automation.
CORE FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
The process control engineer reports to the senior process control engineer and will be engaged in the maintenance, updating and upgrading of the Wonderware Scada used in the Process Plant, as well as other duties related to process plant circuit control, instrumentation and automation.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES.
Coordination with key System user stakeholders
• Work with and for the metallurgical section to optimize system parameters for the process.
• Work with and for the maintenance sections to improve equipment monitoring and control.
• Create and manage Scada links with CMMS and ERP systems as required.
Scada Configuration and plc programming
• Configure and upgrade Scada screens to suit customer requirements - both metallurgical and maintenance.
• Carry out programme changes on the-Allen Bradley pies as required.
• Monitor and interrogate the system to ensure conformance to standards, including Housekeeping' (eg alarms)
• Review and update control interlocks as required.
Equipment and Component Failures
• Analyse plant failures by means of Scad a analysis and reporting functionality.
• Adjust Scad a and pic parameters as required by analysis recommendations
MODIFICATIONS
• Make modifications as required by plant optip1ization and improvement initiatives, including specification of required instruments and control logic.
DRAWINGS
• Maintain an up-to-date register of instrumentation loop diagrams and other related drawings
• Prepare new instrument drawings as require'd.
• Prepare and update P&ID'S as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Instrument technician with several years exposure to scada and pic's OR
Ell/Control graduate engineer with pic and control and automation experience.
Will have worked in automation and process control in a heavy industry environment such as mining, cement, breweries, food and petrochem.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Knowledge and experience of Allen Bradley pic's
Knowledge of Scada systems in general and Wonderware in particular Autocad Knowledge
Understanding of P&ID'S, and preferably ability to prepare P&ID'S. Instrumentation loop design.
