Our client, The Embassy of Denmark in Dar es Salaam seeks applications from qualified professionals for the position of Programme Officer: Governance
Danish Assistance within the Framework of the Joint Assistance Strategy for Tanzania 2007-11 involves support to a dynamic business environment, public health, management of the environment, budget support, road infrastructure and good governance (including interventions in the area of democracy and human rights). The Embassy of Denmark interacts with a wide network of contacts in government, civil society, academia and the private sector.
The Programme Officer will be part of the Poverty, Governance and Political Affairs team at the Embassy of Denmark and will work under the overall management of the Embassy.
THE ROLE
The main task of the Programme Officer is to contribute to the overall planning, implementation and monitoring of Danish support to Governance and Gender activities and to participate in the sector dialogues. The incumbent candidate will also coordinate activities/projects with Tanzania research and higher learning institutiom funded under the Pilot Tanzania and Denmark Research programme 2009- 2012.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
.Post-graduate degree in law, public administration, social science or other relevant disciplines from a reputable university.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant professional work in a public sector institution or other institutions involved in governance, development planning and programming .
• Good understanding of development issues and international development cooperation .
• Good knowledge of Tanzanian policies and challenges in the concerned sectors .
• Good understanding of project cycle management, good governance issues, financial management and anti-corruption measures .
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English & Kiswahili .
• Results orientated and ability to work in a team in a multicultural environment.
.Ability to work independently, multitask, plan effectively and use computer programmes ~
