ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER - 2 Posts
We are seeking dedicated and self motivated Environmental Officers to join the Environmental Team at Tulawaka to take part in the implementation of the Environmental Management System.
Reporting Line: Environmental Coordinator
Location: Tulawaka Mine Site
Work Schedule: Rotational Status (8 Weeks on / 4 Weeks off)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop and implement environmental monitoring program to ensure that impacts can be identified and managed in an appropriate timeframe.
• Develop and implement a site rehabilitation program, to ensure that disturbed areas are returned to their natural state
• Implement an environmental management system that will ensure compliance with African Barrick Gold, Barrick Gold Corporation, Tanzania Legislation and international environmental standards.
• Provide professional and technical support to management, employees and contractors to ensure that their operating practices comply with environmental best practice.
• Undertake environmental risk assessment for aU existing and planned operations project and follow up on implementation of mitigation measures.
• Provide leadership, support and training for site staff to promote understanding of their responsibilities in environmental management to the good performance of the site and due diligence.
• Be a member and participate in Emergency Response
• Manage the environmental databases in particular utilizing EQuIS, RIMS and, GIS software '
• Ensure all environmental reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
• Assist to Develop, implement and maintain a long-term sustainable vector control programmes in the project area.
• And any other duties as assigned by superiors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicants must have the following qualifications/skills:
• Tertiary qualification or equivalent in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Wildlife, and Earth Sciences
• Sound knowledge of operating software (MS Office, Database and GIS Packages)
• Strong conceptual thinking and high level of personal motivation and commitment
• Ability to effectively communicate with the workforce and the general community
• Ability to work effective within a small professional team
• Experience in industry with sound exposure to the mining, mineral processing or chemicals manufacturing industry will provide an added advantage but fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
