Nairobi Hospital - Sous Chef Vacancy in Kenya

The Nairobi Hospital, a leading health care institution in Eastern Africa has the following opening:-
Sous Chef
Ref: HRD/SC/07/10

Reporting to the Head Chef, the successful applicant will assist in planning and coordinating food production and service for patients, staff and others.
Particular Responsibilities Include:
  • Assisting the Head Chef in ensuring smooth and effective running of the food production and food service operations.
  • Participating in preparing and implementing of the annual Catering Department plans.
  • Participating in developing patient and staff menus.
  • Timely production of high quality food for patients and staff.
  • Facilitating catering services for in-house corporate events.
  • Working in liaison with the Dieticians to support optimal patient care by provision of appropriate meals.
  • Ensuring compliance to Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and other relevant standards and participating in facilitating acquisition of the same.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Diploma in Food production from Utalii College or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years progressive work experience, 2 of which should be as a Chef de Partie or Senior Cook in a large Hospital, Hotel or other institution.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Excellent planning and coordinating skills.
  • Effective communication.
  • Service excellence orientation.
