JCCP is a Non-Governmental Organisation established in 1999 based in Japan. JCCP’s mission is to contribute to global peace and security by building human capacity for conflict prevention and peace-building. JCCP specialises in capacity building of NGOs and civil society, community security, experts’ training in peacekeeping operations, peace-building for civilian, police and military, education and livelihood support. Currently JCCP Representative Office in Kenya has an ongoing project in the partnership with UNESCO. The project aims to capacitate CBOs (Community Based Organisations) and strengthen a regional network of CBOs for peace-building and conflict prevention in 9 countries of the Great Lake Region and the Horn of Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, Central African Republic, Eritrea, Sudan and Somalia). At the same time JCCP Representative Office in Kenya is planning to have two more projects. One is a community security project for Somalia in the partnership with UNDP (the United Nations Development Programme) Somalia office. The aim of the project is to contribute the improved security and protection under the law for all in Somalia. Another is called “Peace Support Operation Training and Institutional Capacity Enhancement at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC)” in the partnership with UNDP Kenya office. The aim of the project is to strengthen institutional and human capacity in Peace Support Operations in East Africa in order to effectively prevent, respond to and mitigate conflict and maintain peace and security in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Representative of JCCP Kenya, the duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant will be as follows:
- The Project Officer monitors the implementation of the project activities by reviewing the related records, including work plans, progress reports, projects inputs, budgets and financial expenditures;
- S/he will be based in the JCCP Representative’s Office in Kenya and coordinate the project implementation process with relevant stakeholders such as UNESCO, UNDP Somalia, UNDP Kenya, IPSTC, resource organisations and potential partner organisations;
- Assists drafting regular progress reports to donors;
- Assists developing training modules, curriculums and materials for trainings on peacebuilding;
- Assists delivering the trainings on peacebuilding;
- Assists strengthening a regional network for conflict prevention and peace building in the region; and
- Performs any other duties in his/her fields of competence as required.

- Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues, partners, beneficiaries, government, donor organizations and other stakeholders;
- Ability to multi- task and prioritize work schedules;
- Ability to deliver trainings on peacebuilding
- Fluency in spoken and written English as well as Somali language with systematic drafting skills; and
- Good command of computer applications such as Microsoft Office in particular.
Education/Experiences:
- Excellent oral, written, and structured presentation skills with the ability;
- University degree in relevant academic field such as economics, conflict management, peace building, political science, international relations, social sciences or other relevant fields of study;
- Minimum 5 years of increasingly responsible working experience in the area of project implementation/management/coordination.
- In depth knowledge and/or working experiences in conflicts and post-conflict settings of the Great Lake Region and the Horn of Africa;
