Outline of Role:
Reporting directly to the HealthRight Program Manager, the Malaria Director will oversee all project activities in Kenya including monitoring progress in each of five districts; reporting regularly to HQ, donors and Kenya partners; supervising district managers; collaborating with Ministry of Health officials; and representing the malaria project at the national and provincial level.

Key Duties
- Attend national, provincial, and district level meetings, as needed, to advance all HealthRight malaria project priorities.
- Maintain positive, effective working relationships with project partners, including local CBOs and FBOs, MOH and DHMTs.
- Plan, implement, and monitor project activities to fulfil all grant objectives, providing technical leadership and support to project staff.
- Work with other HealthRight Project Directors to integrate malaria activities at all levels with other HealthRight projects.
- Oversee gathering of all data, working closely with HQ-based Program Manager, outside evaluators and consultants, and M&E Coordinator, through tools such as KPC surveys, Health Facilities Assessments and use of checklists and/or structured interview tools.
- Work with HQ-based project staff to develop and revise the project strategies based on best practices, context, effectiveness and sustainability of impact.
- Maintain compliance with all USAID and HealthRight finance, logistics, procurement, and personnel policies.
- Provide careful financial oversight for the PMI project by monitoring spending, reviewing expense reports, and drafting monthly funds requests.
- Ensure the appropriate and effective use of project resources including vehicles, computers, phones and consumables to decrease loss and waste.
- Communicate frequently and effectively with the Program Manager about project implementation successes and challenges.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Post-graduate clinical degree including Clinical Officer, Medical Officer, KRN
- MPH strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working with an international NGO implementing health programs in Kenya with experience in malaria programming preferred.
- Minimum one year experience implementing health programs in resource-poor settings.
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem-solving.
- Proven expertise in leading and conducting clinical or non-clinical trainings.
- Excellent English writing skills required.
- Proficiency in Word, Access and related MS Office applications.
