Job Announcement
The Southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction (SSIRI) Project provides support to the Ministry of Education. The primary objective of SSIRI is to develop and broadcast educational radio programs to children, youth, and adults in order to improve access to and quality of education throughout southern Sudan and the Three Areas. In addition, SSIRI has introduced other learning technologies and low-cost alternatives for delivering audio programs to schools and learning centers. SSIRI is administered by EDC and funded by USAID.SSIRI is seeking qualified Sudanese Nationals for the following positions:
1. Procurement Specialist-Juba
Primary Responsibilities: -
- Draft the SSIRI Annual Procurement Plan and update the Procurement Plan on a quarterly basis.
- Take the lead in making all SSIRI procurements and coordinate procurements as necessary with relevant EDC staff in Nairobi and the United States.
- Assess options for alternative locations for sourcing procurement.
- Ensure that all EDC, USAID, and USG procurement policies and regulations are followed.
- Identify all items which require BIS approval and prepare the necessary documents for approval.
- Prepare and maintain up to date at all times a comprehensive inventory of all SSIRI equipment.
- Ensure the completion and compliance of all post-delivery requirements of BIS approved commodities.
- Create and maintain vendor files for all new and recurrent SSIRI vendors.
- Degree or diploma in a relevant field, preferably procurement, administration, or management.
- Minimum 3 years of procurement experience; preferably with USAID-funded NGOs.
- Proficiency in the use of computers, in particular email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Fluency in English; working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Initiative, adaptability, interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work effectively under pressure, good communication skills.
2. Communications Specialist-Juba
Primary responsibilities:
- Develop an annual information plan including the list of reports and documentation.
- In consultation with EDC, MoE, and USAID, design and produce print, visual, audio and video materials.
- Develop materials such as special reports, case studies and special findings for dissemination to a wider audience.
- Ensure that the official publications of the project are complete, well presented and submitted on time.
- Provide input to SSIRI staff reporting documents such as quarterly reports and presentations.
- Organize information and communications resources for SSIRI including a photo archive.
- Train SSIRI staff in digital photography, interviewing and note taking for articles and updates.
- Work with mass media agencies to disseminate appropriate information about SSIRI programs.
Qualifications
- A Degree or Diploma in communications, journalism, or its equivalent
- At least 5 years experience in a relevant field.
- Experience and interest in formal and non-formal education.
- Computer and ICT literacy.
- Fluency in English and working knowledge of Arabic
- Superior writing skills in English including the ability to edit print content for different audiences.
- Experience in designing and producing reports, brochures, and other promotional materials.
- Experience with digital photography and digital video production preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including interviewing and presentation skills.
- Initiative, adaptability, interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work effectively under pressure, good communication skills.
- Primary responsibilities:
- Work with education officials to ensure that SSIRI programs are fully integrated in the education system at all levels – especially in promoting, planning, implementation, training, and monitoring
- Identify schools, listening groups, and teachers for SSIRI programs
- Distribute radios/digital devices, teacher's guides and other equipment/materials
- Provide training to education officials, partners, and teachers
- Monitor SSIRI activities in schools and learning groups
- Collect data and report regularly
- Qualifications
- Diploma in Education or its equivalent
- At least 2 years experience as a teacher or trainer or other work in education
- Computer literacy in MS word, Excel, Outlook and the internet
- Excellent communication skills in English and working knowledge of Arabic
- Should be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
