Women Enterprise Fund is a Semi-Autonomous Government Agency that was established through the promulgation of (Women Enterprise Fund Regulations) and gazetted on 3rd August 2007. The Fund is a flagship project under the  social pillar in Vision 2030.
The Fund’s mission is “…to mobilize resources and offer access to affordable credit and business support services to women entrepreneurs”, our vision is “…..to socially and economically empower Kenyan women entrepreneurs for economic development.”
The key mandates are: provision of credit, capacity building of women borrowers, facilitation of local and international marketing, support linkages of women enterprises with big business and facilitation of development of infrastructure like markets, business incubators, etc. to support women businesses.
The organization now seeks to recruit dynamic and energetic Kenyans of unquestionable integrity who are passionate and committed to the cause of women empowerment and gender equality to fill the following positions which have arisen as a result of growth.
Finance and Administration Manager
Reporting to the Chief Executive/Director, the Finance and Administration Manager will be responsible for all aspects of finance and administration matters of the Fund.

Specific responsibilities will be:
  • Formulation and implementation of financial and accounting policies and procedures,
  • Formulation and implementation of administrative and human resources policies and procedures,
  • Coordinate and supervise all the Fund’s operations for efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery,
  • Manage staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties,
  • Preparation, implementation, control and coordination of the Fund’s budget,
  • Ensure proper record keeping and preparation of timely management and annual financial reports,
  • Overall management of the procurement process,
  • Ensure timely and secure provision of ICT services,
  • Ensure the assets of the Fund are efficiently deployed and managed to secure value for money.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A bachelor of commerce in accounting or finance and be in possession of an MBA majoring in accounting, finance or strategic management,
  • Holder of a requisite professional qualification CPA(K) or ACCA,
  • Must be a member of a recognized professional body,
  • At least five (5) years working experience in Finance and Administration, experience in financial sector environment will be an added advantage,
  • Knowledge of computerized financial and accounting systems,
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Clean and Valid driving license.
Operations Manager
Reporting to the Chief Executive/ Director, the officer will be responsible for the following:
  • Formulation and implementation of lending policies, procedures and best practices,
  • Grow a quality loan book through the appropriate channels,
  • Monitor and evaluate all activities in relation to lending,
  • Evaluation of partnering Financial Intermediaries,
  • Review and design market led loan products on a regular basis,
  • Ensure efficient and secure maintenance of loanees’ information in the Management Information System,
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly reports,
  • Offer financial advisory services to beneficiaries of the Fund’s services,
  • Take necessary action to recover overdue loans,
  • Coordinate the fundraising and partnership development of the Fund.
Qualifications and Experience
  • MBA majoring in Finance or Strategic Management from a recognized university,
  • Over 8 years experience in credit operations at a senior level in a big financial or microfinance institution,
  • Knowledge of computerized financial and accounting system,
  • Clean and valid driving license.
Marketing and Research Manager
Reporting to the Chief Executive/ Director, the officer will be responsible for all the Fund’s marketing initiatives.
Key responsibilities will be:
  • Formulation and implementation of marketing and research policies,
  • Research, design and roll out market driven products and services,
  • Build a strong brand through promotion and publicity campaigns,
  • Identify profitable business linkages for the women owned micro, small and medium enterprises,
  • Resources mobilization from prospective partners,
  • Identify and pursue market opportunities locally and abroad to improve market access for women products and services.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A bachelors in business, economics or bachelor of commerce (marketing option) and an MBA in marketing/strategic management/or entrepreneurship from a recognized university,
  • At least 5 years experience in market promotions in a busy organization with ability to develop women friendly marketing techniques and strategies,
  • Have ability to forge and leverage strategic and collaborative relationships, and
  • Hands on experience in developing and implementing linkage schemes such as franchising, subcontracting, outsourcing,
  • Proficiency in computer applications,
  • Clean and valid driving license.
Audit Manager
The Manager will be the overall in charge of the Internal Audit Department. The officer will be answerable to the Risk and Audit Committee of the Board.
The key tasks will be:
  • To formulate and ensure appropriate risk management framework is operationalized,
  • To develop appropriate audit policies and manual,
  • To formulate and implement annual audit plan,
  • To ensure compliance with sound internal auditing principles, relevant statutes, government policies and best practices,
  • To liaise with the external auditors and other relevant agencies on audit matters,
  • To oversee the design and implementation of the monitoring & evaluation system of the Organization, and
  • To carry out special assignments, for example investigations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A bachelors in Accounting or Finance and an MBA majoring in accounting/finance,
  • Holder of a requisite professional qualification: CPA(K) or ACCA,
  • Must be a member of a recognized professional body,
  • Be familiar with Government of Kenya financial management and auditing,
  • Have at least 5 years post qualification experience in external or internal audit gained from working with reputable organizations in public or private sector,
  • Experience in auditing computerized system,
  • Experience in participatory monitoring and evaluation of development program activities, and
  • Proficiency in computer applications,
  • Clean and valid driving license.
Chief Accountant
The Chief Accountant will report to the Finance and Administration Manager.
The purpose of this position is to ensure that all financial resources of the Fund are acquired, disbursed, prudently invested and accounted for efficiently.
Key responsibilities will be:
  • Ensure compliance with established financial and management systems for the effective implementation of the Fund’s goals and objectives,
  • Oversee preparation of budgets and periodic management reports,
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and international financial reporting standards,
  • Where donor funds are involved, ensure the Fund complies with contractual donor reporting requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A bachelor of commerce in accounting or finance option from a recognized University,
  • CPA(K) or ACCA and a member of a recognized professional body,
  • Have at least 5 years post qualification experience gained from working with a reputable organization in public or private sector,
  • Good understanding and experience in all aspects of accounting and financial management including management of donor funds,
  • Knowledge of computerized financial and accounting system.
ICT Manager
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Information Communication and Technology Officer will be responsible for IT and the Management Information System.
Qualifications/personal competencies:
  • Master’s degree in Information Communications Technology or computer science,
  • Cisco (CCNE) and/or Microsoft certification (MCSE) is a requirement,
  • At least 5 years experience in the field of ICT (hardware and software), installation, operation, maintenance, and management of network and communications equipment, working with financial systems, ERP, usage of report generating/writing tools and systems, SQL and Windows,
  • Some accounting background will be an added advantage,
  • Clean and valid driving license.
Training Manager
Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager the officer will be responsible for development and delivery of appropriate enterprise development training materials for the Fund’s clients.
Key responsibilities will be:
  • Carry out regular market surveys to identify client training and development needs,
  • Identify and recommend appropriate training for the Entrepreneurs who have benefited from the Fund,
  • Coordinate and carry out training of women entrepreneurs,
  • Conduct an appraisal of the current range of courses developed for Small and Medium Enterprises by different players and develop training guides and manuals for use by the Fund,
  • Identify relevant players to collaborate with Fund in the execution of the capacity building mandate,
  • Managing employees’ and the Board members learning and development programs.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A bachelors in any of the following; Entrepreneurship Development, Education, Commerce or Business Administration,
  • MBA majoring in Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, or Entrepreneurship Management. A post graduate diploma in Human Resource Management will be an added advantage,
  • Practical knowledge of conducting training needs assessment and translation of the same to training modules/materials,
  • At least 5 years experience in training,
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Proficiency in computer applications,
  • Clean and valid driving license.
Executive Secretary to the Chief Executive/Director
The Executive Secretary will be in charge of the day to day management of the Office of Chief Executive/Director and also provide backup Secretarial and Administrative Support to the Chairperson of the Fund’s Advisory Board.
Key responsibilities will be:
  • Organize and maintain office systems and procedures,
  • Coordinate the Chief Executive/Director’s diary and making appointments,
  • Answer appropriately to enquiries from clients, leaders and other stakeholders,
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of board meetings and other Fund functions,
  • Maintain high degree of tidiness in the office and prepare routine correspondence.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A bachelors in Secretarial Studies/Social Sciences from a reputable University and a Diploma in Secretarial Studies,
  • At least 5 years experience in reputable organizations,
  • Proficiency in Ms. Office,
  • Proven administrative and analytical skills,
  • Ability to prioritize a busy workload and deliver on tight time scales,
  • Demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity, confidentiality and integrity,
  • Excellent communication skills – written and spoken Swahili and English, and
  • Good interpersonal skills.
Regional Credit Coordinators
(8 Positions)
Reporting to the Operations Manager, each coordinator will be responsible for a defined region.
Key responsibilities will be:
  • Coordinate all aspects of on-lending cycle under the Constituency Women Enterprise Scheme (C-WES) by the volunteers and in liaison with the District Gender and Social Development Officers,
  • Initiate and coordinate awareness creation and publicity campaigns,
  • Prepare monthly reports on loan uptake and repayments in the region,
  • Monitor the operations of the financial intermediary partners,
  • Identify and enlist the support of key stakeholders in the monitoring and recovery of loans to ensure quality portfolio,
  • Respond to any queries on issues relating to the Women Enterprise Fund.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A bachelors in Business related field from a reputable University; Associateship qualification in banking. An MBA in accounting, finance, Strategic Management or entrepreneurship will be an added advantage,
  • At least 5 years experience in credit management at a senior level in a financial institution or a big microfinance institution,
  • Possession of good analytical and reporting skills,
  • Willingness to travel to rural areas to monitor women groups,
  • Have passion and commitment to assist and empower the most marginalized women across the country,
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage key stakeholders in public and private sector,
  • Knowledge of computerized financial and accounting system,
  • Clean and valid driving license.
Terms of Employment – 3 years renewable contract
