Functional Title: Civil Engineer
Duty Station: PWJ Bor Office in Jonglei states, South Sudan
Educational Background: Degree in Civil Engineering or Relevant Fields
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of Working Experiences for Latrine, School and Health Facilities Construction Projects Required. At least 3 years of Supervisory Experiences in Construction Projects Required. 3 years of Working Experiences in Water Projects Desirable.

          Capable of working in a team
Motivated and able to take initiative as a team leader
Negotiation skills
Problem solving capacity
Strong background understanding of construction site management
Knowledge of contract documentations
Computer skills
Designing/Planning skills for construction projects
Fluent in English
Ability to adapt to a changeable working environment
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of Filed Coordinators (FCs), the incumbent will:
Project Management for PWJ’s 2010 construction projects:
  1. Direct the construction processes, work production and quality control with appropriate management methods to ensure the completion of the projects in a timely and accurate manner;
  2. Monitor teams of foreman / sub-contractors and their performance through timely site inspections;
  3. Cooperate and Mobilize with the communities through strong collaboration with PWJ’s project team;
  4. Provide necessary technical advice to foremen, workers and PWJ staff;
  5. Monitor and contribute to ‘On The Job’ training and provide advice accordingly;
  6. Support FCs’ financial/logistic managements for the project;
  7. Confirm if all aspects of the process have been completed in an appropriate manner together with concerning authorities and the community before handover;

Reporting
  1. Compile and Submit a weekly progress report on the project to FCs;
  2. Draft and Submit part of the final report for the donor upon completion of the project;
  3. Provide necessary information to FCs whenever requested;

Others Activities:
  1. Attend relevant coordination meetings whenever requested;
  2. Assist FCs’ project proposal preparation if required, including technical designing / planning / drawing, scope, cost, and schedule development;
  3. Perform any other duties assigned by PWJ Office.
