1. Assistant Manager – Alternative Loans
Reporting to the Recovery Manager, the Assistant Manager, Alternative Loans will develop and implement strategies to enhance post graduate and other alternative loans from various collaborators. The position provides leadership and capacity for the Self sustainability of the Postgraduate and Alternative loans

Reporting to the Recovery Manager, the incumbent will provide leadership and capacity for the section by developing and implementing strategies to enhance loan recovery and repayment of all mature undergraduate loans.

1. Assistant Manager – Alternative Loans
Reporting to the Recovery Manager, the Assistant Manager, Alternative Loans will develop and implement strategies to enhance post graduate and other alternative loans from various collaborators. The position provides leadership and capacity for the Self sustainability of the Postgraduate and Alternative loans
Responsibilities:
- Manage a self sustaining business unit offering loans to students
- Source and develop alternative funds to meet projected demands
- Prepare annual budget for the section
- Compile and analyze data on Postgraduate and Alternative loans for strategy formulation
- Develop and maintain risk management policy for alternative loans
- Ensure all loan beneficiaries are billed, implemented and remitted on time
- Ensure timely update and issuance of statements to loan beneficiaries
- Deal with customer queries and correspondences
- Reports: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annual.
- Ensure attainment of portfolio targets and objectives
- Ensure implementation of customer focused service delivery systems
- Coordinate with the Manager in ensuring that the team is motivated towards excellent performance
- Verify Information provided by applicants.
- Analyze applicants’ financial status, needs and eligibility.
- Contact credit bureaus, employers, and other sources in order to check applicants’ credit and personal references.
- Check authenticity of customer’s Letter of Commitment/Certification from employer, pay slip & guarantors to be held as loan security.
- Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to policy;
- Calculate, review, and correct errors on interest, principal, payment, and processing fees, using computers or calculators;
- Contact customers by mail, telephone, or in person concerning acceptance or rejection of applications;
- Issue letter of offer to successful applicants;
- Bill and dispatch to employers billing schedules;
- Call and confirm bill has been effected;
- Confirm amount deducted is remitted to the Board on time;
- Ensure all accounts are allocated within 48 hrs;
- Update loan beneficiaries on their loan status.
- A Degree in any of the following fields: Finance, Economics, Social Sciences, Education, Business Administration, Statistics, Law.
- Possession of relevant post-graduate qualifications will be an added advantage;
- Possession of professional qualifications in Credit management or related field;
- Over five years experience in credit management and debt collection;
- Proven IT proficiency;
- Good report presentation skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and interpret extensive variety of data
- Strong counselling and problem solving skills.
Reporting to the Recovery Manager, the incumbent will provide leadership and capacity for the section by developing and implementing strategies to enhance loan recovery and repayment of all mature undergraduate loans.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with strategic partners to ensure skip-tracing and referencing of loanees
- Carry out regular recovery inspections
- Ensure prompt billings .dispatch and timely Compliance of all bills done
- Ensure loan recovery collections are timely and accompanied by proper remittance schedules
- Ensure update of all remittances
- Prepare annual budget for the section
- Handle loanee queries and correspondences
- Compile and analyze data on Undergraduate loan recovery and repayments
- Reports: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Annual.
- Obtain records of all mature undergraduate loans from the Lending Department
- Review and update loan files and records:
- Issue statements and demand note to all loanees
- Contact all employers periodically to update loanee in their employment.
- Prepare updated billings for loanees who have been located giving the principal loan, interest accrued, repayment period, Projected Interest and Monthly repayment rate to the loanee /employer
- Review loanee/employer accounts in order to determine whether remittances are made on time and that other loan terms are being followed.
- Check and confirm timely remittances of employers/loanees
- Check and analyze monthly dropouts to ensure deductions continue until completion of loan.
- Profile loanees account status by issuances of statements and clearance letters
- Check and ensure all correspondences are acted on within 48 hrs.
- Coordinate with the Manager in motivating team members towards excellent performance.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts and interpret extensive variety of data.
- A Degree in any of the following fields: Finance, Economics, Social Sciences, Education, Business Administration, Statistics, Law.
- Possession of relevant post-graduate qualifications will be an added advantage;
- Possession of professional qualifications in Credit management or related field;

- Stay abreast of new types of loans and other financial services and products to meet university students’ needs.
- Explain to customers the different types of loans that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
- Coordinate LAF Collection service.
- Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and answer questions about the process.
- Through the application form, obtain and compile loan applicants’ bio-data, parental or own income, expenditure, credit histories and other financial information.
- Verify and examine information and accuracy of loan application and supporting documents.
- Prepare and type loan applications, closing documents, legal documents, letters, forms and pay-in slips, using computers.
- Record, register, scan and verify applications for loan and loan information using computers.
- Analyze applicants’ financial status, needs and eligibility to determine feasibility of granting loans.
