ACTIF is a regional trade body formed in June 2005 by the cotton, textile, and apparel sectors from Eastern and Southern Africa, covering the COMESA, SADC, and EAC trade blocks, and currently includes members of National Associations from 17 countries (Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Malawi, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe).
Program Manager
The Program Manager will work with the Executive Director.
He/she will be responsible for technical and trade policy matters.
He/she will establish and maintain good relations and interaction with Regional Economic Commissions.
Drive ACTIF’s and ACTIF members’ capacity building programs, including:
members’ needs assessment, training and technical assistance program development and implementation, assist in grant program development, technical issues, and general management responsibilities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- University degree in textile engineering or any other related field
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment and to maintain effective working relations with people.
- Proven track record in leading technical assistance such as trainings, workshop facilitation, evaluations, strategic planning or such assignments
- Proven experience in guiding, supervising, and coordinating the work of highly professional multidisciplinary teams, and in spearheading training and development.
- Knowledge of the operations of regional Economic Communities like COMESA, EAC and SADC
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential.
- Experience with the regional cotton, textile and apparel value chain will be an added advantage
Duties will include
- Ensure program activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, donor stipulations and ACTIF members’ policies.
- Assist in Grant application process and participate in future program development and fundraising initiatives
- Coordinate ACTIF–COMESA regional value chain strategy implementation process with partners.
- Work with the Executive Director to plan and implement ACTIF program activities
- Provide program reports that are timely and meet institutional and donor requirements.
- Oversee that key project activities are achieved per project budget, timeline, and donor requirements
- Oversight of program development and implementation, including allocation of resources and ensuring that appropriate controls are maintained at all levels
- Develop concept papers, proposals, and market the same and coordinate fundraising with other staff.
- Liaise with other functional/departmental managers to ensure they are fully informed of program activities and objectives
- Assist in identification and hiring of a consultants for specific tasks
- Identify training/technical assistance needs of members and design a program to address these needs, in cooperation with the partner’s network
- Generate program quarterly and annual reports. Assist in the organization strategy and business plan development
- Representation of ACTIF in various fora and trade event. Develop and implement trade linkage and facilitation activities
